I'm getting close to completing my winter project and I could use some opinions on the wheel color. My plan was to run chrome reverse and wide whites but I had to spend some of my budget on stuff I wasn't planning on replacing in the beginning so I'm pretty much out of money. I'm going to have run regular steel wheels with maybe chrome bullet center caps and lug nuts and black walls for now. I just can't decide what color to paint them. I like the weathered flat turquoise paint on the truck but I think the color limits the wheel color choices. I was originally going to paint them white but I'm afraid that might look too bland. I've also considered black but I'm not sure how that will look with black wall tires. What are my options with this turquoise?
This is the truck the day I bought it, I hate those wheels!

This is what it looked like a couple weeks ago, drop axle, flipped rear, and more cubic inches.

I think white steelies with bullit caps would look great, blackwalls on the tires. Get that ***** on the ground!!! White interior.

Hey those are factory ford mid 80's wagon wheels or "styled steel wheels..." use to sell em.. optional equip on bronco's and F150's hell I have a pair on my 86 ford f 150 4x4 now...I'd paint the roof white/off white and the rims white...would look ok for now.... or paint both cream....

    What's wrong w/ the 80's f-150 wheels?:D J/K

I'd say go with white wheels

    Nice truck!

  5. How about leave the ugly wheels on it and save up until you can get the wheels you really want. It seems like a waste of money to buy wheels you don't really like much. Wait a while and then buy what you really want.

When I was younger, I was constantly wasting money on ugly wheels just because they were cheap, then replacing them with slightly less ugly cheap wheels, and never really getting what I wanted. Then I wound up with piles of ugly wheels that I couldn't even give away because they're all so ugly. Save a little dough here and there, and then when you get enough dough saved up, get the wheels and tires you REALLY want.

This is one of the few vehicles that I think can really pull off a moon disc with the right stance...

I think a white or cream steel wheel with the chrome center caps would look really sharp - skip the whitewalls FOREVER and stick to the blackwalls ... that will have a cl***ic clean look.
And this might be the first time I don't see eye to eye with the bossman, as I don't like moon discs on anything except a few bellytankers I've seen in black and white photos.

Nice truck, makes me miss mine.

That turqouise is one of my favorite colors! I'd say cream colored wheels with baby moons, or body colored steelies with them cool spider caps & trim rings. Magnum 5oo's would look good if you can get 'em in yer bolt pattern....

Man, I think everything with the exception of PT Cruiser and other new cars can pull of some Moon Discs! I do believe that you are correct though about the stance. Needs to be perfect.

  17. Wheels? don't worry-- you can pick up some 20" 'blades really reasonably these days. Just check any of the used tire stores nearby.;)

That's pretty cool! I never even thought of scallops. That's why the Hamb is great! I hope that's about how it will sit. I had the stock axle dropped 4" and I removed 1 leaf from the front. In the rear, I flipped the axle and have all the leaves still in it for now, I'll see how it looks when I get it together. I wanted to keep all the springs as stock as possible to maybe keep a factory ride(not that it was necessarily good). I'm not really wasting any money on the steelies because I already have them, just the time and materials to paint them. I really think the chrome reverse and WWW will look good with the turquoise paint but those WWW's are $$$. I wanted a cream color for the steelies but I wasn't sure if it will look right since the interior/dash is white? What color would those scallops be? Maybe a gloss turquoise?

I think they look good on the right truck, just not mine. I didn't think about painting the roof white, I wonder how that would look.

hey I found these...popular two tone combo for the year/body style... but with that color just a white roof/back of cab would look nice...even if you painted those wagon wheels white with a buzz can for now...hell if ya didn't like it busscan em back silver...
