Can you put a propper brake on the rearend of a 1950 dodge.

    I would like to install a proper e brake on my 50 dodge other then the one mounted too the transmission any info on this subject would be much appreciated.

  2. Swap the rearend for a later one or another make rearend and you'd have it, just would have to run cables.

    I bought a rear end off a guy that had installed early Mustang backing plates and drums on the stock rear end. Probably the cheapest way to go. You get the E-brake and self adjusting drums. You can also buy all the parts at the part store in a roadside emergency.

    I vote for a later axle ***embly. Plenty of donors at the u-pull-it.
    The prospect of swapping just the brakes and keeping the drums is intriguing...ask the same question over at www.p15-d24.com.

    My '37 Plymouth has a '76 Nova rear, simple to hook up cables from the boneyard, and I used a '50 Dodge E-brake handle.
