  1. ROGUE,

Where are you? is it just me or does this look his new/old project........

Would be interesting seeing these two at the SAME 'big name' show, reckon that would ruffle a few feathers....

    2 cents....

    Cheers,

If I remember correctly that wagon was brought to the 50th Autorama with the intention of entering it for the Ridler. It was refused because it had been shown publicly. Pinkee's should remember that one as they brought it to the show. I would ***ume that they will be checking beforehand this time.
The wagon was awsome and I bet the truck will be also.

I like that Shoebox wagon a lot, although "Caprice" was the first thing I thought of when I saw it. I do not understand the bling bling wheels though.

I'm with Doc on this one...

The shoebox is boring... And stale...

Somehow they took whatever style a shoebox inherently has OUT of the final product. It makes me numb at every angle.

But then again so do ALL the riddler winners I've seen.

Take a cool old Ford with heart and soul...
REMOVE said heart and soul, paint it a million coats of some garishly boring color and you got yourself a Riddler winner baby. [IMG]

God bless all those that build real cars...

Idiotic for the sake of being idiotic? Nothing new.

As far as "Ridler Regulations", I may be wrong, but according to CASI/MSRA, cars in contention can be shown as long as it somehow promotes the Detroit Autorama; otherwise, it would jeopordize elligibility. That does not include other events. I could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time.

you have NO idea what it takes to build a car of that caliber do you? (thats a retorical question, in case you did'nt know.) it takes more creativity, imagination hard work and talent than most of us will posses in 10 lifetimes. like the car or don't, that is up to you, but don't knock the hard workin builders and all their blood sweat and tears just cause you don't get it. i've built a couple cars and i can't even IMAGINE finishing one to that level. i don't like em all either but i'm not gonna spit in the builders/owners faces just cause it ain't my style. you would'nt want to be treated that way, would ya?

    Yadda Yadda Yadda...

You are judged by your accomplishments...

The end results should stand on their own. Not your resume or you over-inflated artistic self-worth.

I do in fact know what it takes to win shows like that. And that's an idiotic argument. Whether I LIKE the end result or NOT has nothing to do with what went into building it.

The car ****s! Send my congratulations to the incredibly talented builders.

    And for the record!!

I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE BUILDERS IN MY ORIGINAL POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it ****s because you don't like it? OK. Then I guess, from my perspective, every unchopped Tudor Shoebox ****s. Wrong...I just don't like '49-51 sedans w/o chopped tops. Nothing about them ****s. You may not like what Peratt did to that wagon, and there ain't a damn thing wrong with that, but it doesn't ****. Lines always seem to get blurred between taste and quality workmanship.

No, saying something "****s" is a qualifying statment that is by nature rooted in opinion. It is my opinion that it ****s.

But by "****s" I mean that it doesn't intrest me in the least on any level. Therefore I have wasted too much energy on it and will let it die. [IMG]

That was a right on observation, too, And its the low shiny trim and the rear wheel opening...and the “new car” rake.

That’s sort of why I compared it to the Camry, because when trying to figure out the popularity of that “melted gummy bear” no edges styling of that Camry, (which they fixed in the next body styles, in my opinion) I realized it was a remake of the style ideas (not the exact car obviously) of the Shoebox, and apealed to the same "average" market. Once upon a time customizers were the vanguard of new style and set the lines for the manufacturers to follow. Now they follow the “New car rake” like sheep and bolt on the bling for, I have no idea about that.
My comment about the tail light, the wind split looks like it has been cut out, then the car put on that “racer rake” and then the wind split welded back in level with the ground instead of level with the line of the car’s body. I find that irritating to look at.
The grafting of the roof is great, but I expect that from pros.
The rear bumper fits perfect and that shiny trim at the body is a nice detail but it should be carried over to the tail lights and headlights for continuity. It's just an isolated detail looking for a partner in design as it is.
Ya know all them cars with those leaned back Mercedes headlights that look out of place because of the bulbous hood between them?
Well, Here’s a car that fixed the bulge in the hood by sloping it back, but neglected to put the sloping lights in it?
Instead, it’s got what look like “traditional” ‘54 Merc headlights, in an otherwise completely contemporary car.
    It just confuses me...

Yes the body work looks flawless.
But that’s a given on a "Pro car"

i've always liked the wagon...the engine compartment is beautiful, as is the b***wood slat headliner and the rest of the interior for that matter.
the roof was wheeled by bobby waldon of waldon's speed shop and pinkee's hand-fabricated from the rear quarters up....the windsplit follows the upper quarter line...the headlight openings are laid back with vertical headlamps residing inside....the hood and front fenders were stretched 4 inches...i like the wheels, they fit the styling of the car

I saw the wagon at autorama in detroit...very nice design and execution..period.

As far as docs truck goes....I'd rather drive a toyota...in fact I do....a rusty 87 four door sedan and wouldn't trade it for docs...dunebuggy?, doodlebug?, tractor?, buggy?, firewood hauler?, dump runner? or what ever cl***ification it fits in.

  28. Hey All,

Excellent craftsmanship on the wagon, design ****s balls though - which is the opposite of alot of our "traditional" cars. They look so right, but the construction isnt "pro dollar" quality - its "pro fun".

For me they wagon reminds me of most of the glossy paint, billet wheel cars. It doesnt really have any soul. I can certainly look at the talent and money used to build it and go... wow... but it just doesnt grab me and go... yeah ****ing sweet car.

It's funny how this turned into another thread about people’s unsolicited opinions about somebody’s car. The only reason there is even a pic of the wagon is because someone mentioned it and I posted the pic so anyone that wasn't familiar with the car could see it. The wagon isn't even relevant to the thread. The bad*** roadster pick-up will be there in all its bare steeled glory and I figured anyone in the area would love to see it. If someone wants to start another post about what’s right or wrong with someone else’s car go for it.

Come to the Pinkees open house, Sept 25. You will not regret it....................

It's OK, I've heard way worse from who I consider way better people...

I'd like to know...Is that rendering by Christian what the shop is building for the award contender?
It does look virtually the same as Rogue's Deuce roadster pick up, but then, how different can they get when they are using virtually the same body, engine and some other parts in virtually the same setup?
I've seen Rogue's, if this one's "just like it" it'll be great!
(They will be different, unless it's going to be British Racing Green too!) [IMG]
