What do you think will happen to after market car companys like the ones that make parts for cl***ic cars and trucks like ours her on the HAMB in this economy. If they all close up are we going to be left high and dry for some of us who need parts from these company?

  2. Good question. Most parts are already made. They'll end up somewhere and sold at a high price I'm sure.

All we have to do is support those companies who offer products made in the USA. Fairly simple concept that has been overlooked for far too long. Thankfully, there are still many aftermarket companies who do practice manufacturing within our country.

Parts dealers, at least in the early Ford arena, have historically done very well in recessions. Fords are the everyman cars and for most a good respite from the daily news and bad news so they're the last things to go unless the bills won't get paid or the kids and wife fed. Parts aren't that expensive and work done yourself is free and the****utic.
The places that suffer most are the job shops because their everyman customers cannot afford the $65-85 per hour work anymore.

I don't think that the shows in 2009 are a big indicator of what will happen in 2010. Most companies have booked the shows a year in advance and unless they are on the verge of going under, I think we'll still see many of them at shows this year. 2010 is a very different matter.
