I'm looking for pictures of the clutch and brake pedals for a 36 ford. Not the portion above the floor but what they look like under the floor. I 'm changing from automatic to 4 speed and I'm going to need to add a clutch pedal. But it looks like the clutch pedal is defferent than the brake pedal. any ideas on this change would be great.

What do you have for a brake and master cylinder setup now? There are a bunch of different ways you can go.

Its the original pedal ***embly without the clutch pedal. I can make a clutch pedal but it looks like if I made it the same as the brake pedal the frame would interfere with its travel. So i think it needs to have a differant angle. So rather than go trial and error i was hoping to see what it looked like to simplify things.

If you have a master cylinder bolted to the pedal ***embly then it is not the original. Originally '36's had mechanically actuated brakes, levers and rods. If you have a shaft stub available where the missing clutch pedal is, I'm betting that you have a '40 or later pedal ***y.

Besides your pedal ***y, your other big concern may be the bell housing as to how your clutch throw out bearing mechanism works. For example, if you are running a chevy engine, you may get an adapter bell housing to bolt up a Ford 4 speed or T5 that uses the original style throw out bearing set-up like that depicted in '36 3-window's schematic. With that set-up you could use the '40 pedal type of clutch linkage with its equalizer bar or a '39 pedal ***embly that uses a more direct lever and rod connection from the pedal ***y. Yes, pictures of all this would clarify everything to you.

Your rite 36tbird it isn't an original ***embly. Not sure what it is off of but it dose have a stub for the clutch pedal as you said. Heres more info on what I'm dealing with. Engine SBC. ****** T10 w/chevy bell housing. It's sounds like this is going to get complicated. But I'm sure someone has done this. 36 3 windows that schematic helped at least now I know how the original clutch pedal worked. Thanks for the help so far guy's.

It is kinda complicated but not insurmountable. I'm sure others here will have other solutions so I will offer you just one of many.

I think that it is Cornhusker's that offers a bell-housing adapter, SBC to T-10, that uses a stock type Ford throw-out bearing ***embly with the cross-shaft. There are two variants of that cross-shaft, one with a flattened tab that attaches to the equalizer bar actuated from the '40 style of pedal ***y or a cross-shaft with a lever on it that attaches directly from a '39 Ford pedal ***y. The '39 ***y and '40 ***y have the same bolt pattern where they attach to the frame and that pattern is different from prior years. So, you probably see evidence of multiple holes in your frame if it is the original '36 frame.

I may have an extra '40 clutch pedal if you decide to go this route and you identify your pedal ***y. I think I also have an equalizer bar ***y. But, I bet there are plenty laying around old hot rodder's garages in your area.

Thanks 36tbird. That is very helpful information. I guess the first thing I need to do is ID my pedal ***embly. I'll see if I can get some numbers off it later today. Cornhuskers is that a web site or is that someone on the HAMB. The name sounds familier. again thanks for everything.
