My Buddie came up to my place to show off his new toy. After looking it over he went to leave and I hear a crash,I turned to see his car with only 3 wheels. The lugs on the front wheel had fallen off in my driveway witch was a good thing as I used to live on a steep hill with a left turn about 1/4 mile down,on the right is a cliff. It would not of been pretty.Car is original frame and running gear with a brookville body.
I know the feeling all to well. Have a 49 Chevy that made it about 5 miles from the garage where it was just inspected before losing a rear wheel. Apparently the brain surgeon could operate on a brain but didn't know how to tighten 5 lug nuts.....
I always wondered how anyone could be dumb enough leave lugnuts loose.... and then i did it on my 54 haha. seriously you would be suprised how many cars come back to my shop (BMW dealershop) with poeple complaining about clunks only to find out the previous tech left a wheel/caliper/ control arm ect loose
I put the snow tires on the rear of my neighbors boys little truck one winter. I had it back in the garage a week later for front brakes, and as long as I had the wrench out I went back and checked the rears. Most of the lugs on one wheel took a lot to get tight. It still makes me shiver thinking about it. CHAZ
Ya it's a weird feeling when your front end drops and you see your front tire bounce off into a corn field at 65 mph. It was a **** pucker moment
