Slightly OT rant. I'm helping a neighbor fix a power window. This is the 2nd Dorman part that has several holes not threaded! How hard is it to check that the part is threaded? We bought a ****py tap set to fix it- hopefully it'll work.
Quality escapes many manufacturers these days. alot of window motors and regulators were pop riveted into place, maybe thats what they want you to do with the new part. Or like you are doing, tap out the holes. It ****s to have to fix a new part, but it saves a trip back to the store. I've had to do it to cheap *** quality motor mounts alot.
The funny thing is all of the fasteners came in the box with the last one but 3 of 4 holes weren't threaded. Only 2 of 4 fasteners came with this one (screwed into the part) since 2 of 4 holes weren't threaded. Dorman's gonna get a nastygram.
Considering 99% of **** is made in China these days..... even all the restoration parts (which fit like total **** btw). Yea, blame China.
Integrity is one of those words from the 1940's and 50's. You know, when a manufacturer cared what they produced?
Just unwrapped a set of sbc heads that had been on the shelf after being"rebuilt". They didn't put in one of the rocker studs!! Just a blank hole on top of the head. jerry
