Saying goodbye to the 32 roadster,,

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Feb 26, 2009.

  1. This afternoon I watch the roadster drive away from my house,,I never thought I would ever sell the car from the first time I was able to drive it but 6 short years later it's history.

Some will say it was a glass car and they are easy to replace and that may be true but I had a lot of good times in that car,,,I also got wet more times than I care to remember but ain't that part of the fun in owning a open car.

I've still got the truck and the more-door so I'm not without a hot rod.

These are the folks that drove down from Iowa to pick the roadster up,,,Nick and his wife are really nice people and I urged him to join the Hamb.

What's next,,,get back to work on the wifes 54 Ranch Wagon and do a few muchly needed repairs to the more-door,,, HRP

Had the same feeling a few months back when I sold my roadster. My new one is well on it's way and now I don't miss it near as much. Pretty soon, won't miss it at all. You got to break a few eggs.

its always a interesting deal when it happens.... i sold 4 hot rods in 05 to build a house ....it sucked the summer of 06 , with nothing cool to drive... but all things happen for a reason:rolleyes::D enjoy

  8. I kept seeing it in the classifieds and I always thought that it was a helluva buy. If I had a better job, you'd a sold it a long time ago. :)

It is hard to say goodbye......I have been thinking lately on selling some of the flock to buy my Daughter her first house....now is the time in real estate.

  10. Danny,

    Damn, that was cheap.

Glad to see that it found a new home. Don't know what your plans are now but I can't wait to see whatever is next.

  17. Hope you have lots of pics of your road trips to keep the good memories fresh. I'll look for it up at Des Moines Good Guys this year. If you talk to Nick and his wife again tell him to come to the Deuce Doins event that's on Saturday there. Or if he wants, join the Midwest Deuces. He can PM or email me for more info. Jerry

YEP!!------I will feel the pain the day I sell mine!--Just don't know when that will be, but my family has so many enjoyable years of riding in it, its really a part of the family. All the kids have helped in one way or another, bringing it home in pieces in 1962, & finishing it in 1968,----Yeah, its all Henry steel, was quite a project between Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, & Little League----GEEZ, now all 3 are in their 50's----Time flies!!!---In the meantime, I'll keep on chasin' those lines!!!-----------Don

New project money!! Not a bad thing. We all either have cars or money.
I like having enough funds to play with instead of waiting for the next payday.
    That was a nice driver.

I understand your feelings. Over the years I've had to part with some really nice cars but when family needs are involved it just has to be. I always liked to see them leave the area and not be seen by me again. Just something about seeing your old ride get changed and knowing it's going in a direction you would have never taken it. At least you've got a couple of prime examples still around and finishing the wagon will ease the pain.

Ive always been sentimental to my cars...I guess once you work on something, it becomes more a part of you, and vice versa...Many people will never know this feeling...well aleast as far as cars go...

  24. Man - that thing was ORANGE!! Nice car, sorry to see it go. GO TIGERS!
Yeah - what is the deal on the wagon? Have you got it back over there in SC? I've called over there a couple times and not heard anything back.

I feel for ya, Danny. The spousal unit just does not understand why I wouldn't sell the '33 for good money.
    1. I ain't done with it, yet.
    2. It's my first.
    3. It's got dads engine in it. (that is the best one, it matches his Nomad. Can't leave the family.)
Now, get out in the shop, and have some fun and make sparks fly.

  27. Yeah, what with the economy being what it is, Danny has been drawn back into the family bidness, he IS in the shop................building floral arrangements!

It does suck to sell a rod but like you said you still got 2 others to play with. When i delivered my 29 roadster to PA I just about turned around with out selling it. But i wanted to build a new garage to start a new project in the spring. And now I still have no garage due to the laws of my wonderful town. So I just bought a project to start all over with.

  29. Now cut that out,,in my best Jack Benny voice,,,,you know I am the delivery boy now that Brenda had to let one of our employees go. HRP

Man, that really would be a cool move. I have a feeling that there is going to be nothing I won't do for my daughter if I ever have one. It would be hard to let go of any of your cars but the look on your daughter's face would be worth it.
