Did you already put the disc upgrade on? That'll be part of the problem right there, they move the front wheels out.
Yes, they are already on. Using granada spindles. Just need to redo lines for the new discs and master/prop valve, rebuild the rear drums, test drive
My 56 sits about as low but has 14 inch steelies on it right now. Motor is back out and the front sheet metal is off but it did look cool sitting that low before we pulled it apart. I have the granada disc brakesin the front with the Aerostar coils and in the back we did a 1 1/2 block and flipped the shackles.
Possible to change to narrow rims, or rims with different rear offset? I had a '47 with the same basic problem. When I turned and went up a drive way or over a bump in road tire would barely rub outter fender edge. Tried all types of different shocks to stiffen things up a bit. Ended up measuring up and down of car for shocks and tried Tokico brand. Ordered ones that were for an early Corvette rear. Worked great and solved problem.
75 series tires might give you enough clearance those look like 70s or even 60s narrow wheels also help
I dunno what the problem is, My Daughters Daily Driven '55 Town Sedan is lower than that with 15" wheels and NO fender issuse. Ohh Yea, I see the problem .... THOSE Nasty wheels. Sorry man, But those wheels are for the Neighbors Mullet Powered Mustang....
oh man, roll the fenders. where guys have used old wood baseball bats and put them between the fender and tire and literally rolled the car forward and backwards to flare the lip out.
I have to get new tires anyway, these have been sitting on there for about 10 years now. They are 70's, so maybe a littler narrower will do the trick. It should lighten up a bit to when I do the engine swap, currently all iron, and the new one is alum. heads, intake, water pump, etc.. Glad to hear you all love the wheels. Get over it, you dont have to drive it, but I will take donations for new ones, I have better things to blow money on right now. These wheels were put on in when I was in highschool in the early 90's, so they were cool then, well at least to us younger folk anyway. I havent driven it since then, so they havent changed.
just run some black painted steelies. there cheap as to get secondhand and being you need new tires get some narrowband whites. clearance isues solved then you can go lower
My 50 Ford sits a bit low also. I have to keep an eye on the car in front of me for the severity of the dips and bumps on the freeway. My top of the tires hit the top of the inner fender well. A bit of a jerk in direction sometimes. Just a heads up when you are zooming down the road at 70 mph for the first time.
