grill idea....do a scaled down version of the cowl with the same lite treatment and use clear/tinted plastic tubing for the grille bars.JMO
All being done in steel ! KOOL Fibergl*** is easy and messy but steel is real. For a driver I think steel is the way to go ,it will sure out last gl***.Going to be a fun ride,I like it. Keep it up ,soon you will have the coolest car in the neighborhood.
Exactly! Kodos and Kang. The tall bubble would really stand out... not like short, streamlined bubbles blend into the crowd, but it owuld be really different. I really like what you're doing, but the IFS seems awkward and gangly compared to the rest of the car.
Love the look of this project. Will there be room to seat two people in there? Or is it going to seat one with the column in the center? How about a grille made from the front sections of a 60-61 Chevy truck hood, welded together and mounted vertically? Would continue on the 60's truck parts theme. I stole this pic from NegativeMatt, he made a grille shell out of one of those hoods but he didn't leave the vertical slots like this.
It is a single seater with center steering , metal flake "Zodiac" fabric with white fur are in the plans, my son found some vintage moon type gas petals and an odd alum. shifter off of ???, we might try and make our own bubble but if that fails there are a few companys that we found , thanks to hamb members, that could make a bubble for us, my son has been working on the "tailgate area" this week , will post some more pictures soon
tailgate area filled, cut in for caddy tailights , more metal work. planning fender / skirts at the moment.
Very, very kool! Well worth the wait! I can't wait to see what you do next! I also went with the Caddy taillights, but I went with the clear ones to match the bubble top......
More grinding and filling in , have the box design set and working on the transistion to the upper bubble reveal
Here are a few early build shots of the mock up a few guys were asking for , one has a center of a merc grille set in place to see how it would look ,still unsure of the front yet , tube axle front , still possible
is it going to be a one seater? bubble tops rule! i've about got all my parts for mine and can't wait to start on it.
so bad ***, ive never really seen a progress build on some crazy **** like this before. Its interesting and awsome to see all the work done with old parts. Nice work, cant wait to see the bubble top on it
Still been grinding and welding , been working on some of the mechanical stuff not much to look at car looks the same , we did find some chrome reverse rims and trinkets for the car I will get some pictures posted , thanks for the asking , hopefully have some nose updates soon
mounted up some temp tires on the chrome reverse rims so we could get a better look at the stance and the rims we are using , picked up a metal flake steering wheel , and a chrome valve cover from a swap meet , got the gas petal from a friend , wondering if you hambers could ID the petal , it has bare feet on the back but no name ?????? anybody?
Thanks Mark , we plan on bringing up to your place this summer once we get it running so you can take a better look
I love every bit of this. I really want to see what it'll look like with a bubble on it. I've driven fork lifts with that same gas pedal on it already. A neat piece.
Man, that thing is great. Just seen this thread for the first time and it's pushin all the right ****ons for me. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the nose. What colour do you have in mind for it? F
We were thinking bright blue with Roth flake and some white or silver panel painting , but that could change???
Komet update, fired it up the other day , so getting closer to do donuts in the parking lot , started mocking up the under-side to see what kind of room I would have left , not looking like much left want to get it driving before we blow it apart for paint, also included the required metal-flake helmet shot
Man that is really cool. I've been dreaming of building a roadster out of truck bedsides myself lately. If it were mine I would slam it so its 2" off the ground, but that's me.
