i was given a sbc with a th400 and i decided to put it in the rustbucket. its from a box truck from like 1988 so i put a manifold hei all that crap on and redid the mounts and im at where i had to cut the tunnel out of the floor spend hours rewelding the oil pan when i put it in the oil pump hit the welds inside of it and now i gotta redo it. the stater is on the wrong side the fan clearence is horrible and i got a tiny fan that may or may not work. the exhaust manifolds may not clear. Is there anyone who has done this and if so is there an oil pan with a front sump that has a lip on it for the 87 on sbc. i just need some better ideas other than i should have put a nailhead in it. the motor was free and i was broke. im nto even gonna talk about the driveshaft.

check with morroso they make a pan for every thing I had one on my 69 camero that even had little doors that flew shut with G force so the engine wouldnt be starved when launching it on the line. Worse comes to worse go with a dry sump.

It's probably one of many reasons why someone will eventually tell you that the BUICK engine was possibly a better fit with more class that a used SBC.

    Just a thought.:)

the sbc was free i had sold the nailhead long ago and the dynafloww was junk. the sbc was in a box truck behind the shop so i figured it would be hard but not as hard as its become. the cars got floors made of duckwork im not worried about it that much. even the radiator is backwards. the starter is too and the oil filter is prolly gonna connect with the steering box.
