Can anyone ID this tank

    I bought it on Ebay, but got no info with it. I added the top/cap since the original was un-usable. The guage is Model A I think. It uses a cork float. I also built the base.

    from what little detail i can see, i would guess its aircraft. the shape lends itself to fit in a fuselage. is it aluminum? are their any i.d. tags? any ofther #s or markings? is their a brand name on the float guage? i would like one similar for my '27 modified.:D

    i agree with the aircraft theory...piper cub or some such. mounts in the wing root so you can see the gauge

    I have seen '30's aircraft with root tanks using model A gauges like that. High wing cabin types, puts the gauges right where needed.

    Thanks for the replys. There are no numbers or stampings of any kind. Yes, I made the base. When I saw it on ebay, I made up my mind that I had to have it. Of course, it was much rougher than the pictures depicted. I've asked all the locals and the opinions were either tractor, aircraft or a household fuel oil storage tank, but no one has known for sure.
