I've been building a 53 chevy car and i've been piecing together the frontend. I put a Fatman Ultra low MII crossmember with tubed A arms set up for airbags with Fatman 2" droped spindles. I'm at the point where it's time to put some brakes on it and since i am able to buy parts at wholesale through the place I work for I was wondering if anyone could tell me what 11" rotors with a chevy lug pattern will fit on a MII set up? I've searched the H.A.M.B and the only info I have found is that I will need to use late model GM calipers with large caliper brackets. I know you can buy kits but even if I did that I still wouldn't know what rotors they are if I ever had to replace them. I know granada rotors fit but I'd rather keep the chevy lug pattern. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I found a thread that said that gen. 3 camaro rotors with MII bearings will fit, anyone know if that's true?

Not sure what Gen Camaro rotors but changing bearing races and cones plus the apropriate seal is how it is done. You have to get the caliper bracket for a Camaro rotor ,not a Granada rotor as the spacing is different.

It was on the HAMB no pics though. Don't get me wrong $30.00 is great. I was just asking, the more you know about something the better off you are.

The set I have has stock nova calipers and rotors (direct from NAPA) the bearings, seals and caliper bracket are the only difference. And when I asked around about getting new seals (don't need them yet but will if I need to replace the rotors) I was told they were a specialty item and available only through a bearing house or ECI.

I can get you the part numbers tonight if you want. But these are the older GM style brakes not the newer metric stuff.

  10. I recommend the ECI "big brake" kit that uses the Chevelle calipers instead of the Metric (s-10/Monte/82upCamaro) The big calipers will give you much better stopping power, and from what I remember, this is what Fatman sends you when you buy a complete front.

As far as rotors, the usual MII kits have the metric GM caliper and either a Granada or Metric Camaro rotor. You'd have to check with ECI to find out what rotor matches their caliper brackets. They'll sell you a complete kit, or just a bracket and hardware kit.

Thanks blkcat, part numbers would great since I can get wholesale prices from napa. You gave me the info I was looking for. Knew I could count on the HAMB for an answer.

I used '78 Firebird brakes on my MII. Call Fatman, they will tell you which bearings to use, and they will have the seals you need.

    Here's the part numbers I have: Rotors (Napa):85532 bearings: inner:L58110 outer: LM12710
This was the big brake kit from ECI with the old style Nova/Chevelle Calipers (can't find the part number for those).

ECI kit was pretty cheap and that's the only place I could get the bearing seals. Hope this helps. I would check with ECI on prices before getting everything separately might be the same or less and a lot easier.

    Good Luck
