Looks like your rod is going great. I really love seeing the progress on some of the cars on here. It's very educational and motivating. I can do the wrenching and mechanical stuff and some metal work but have welded very little. I want to learn so bad. Your work looks great. Godspeed getting that baby on the road.
Looks great, keep up the good work - on the car and teaching your kids about building a rod. Great way to bond with them.
If I told you Hotroddrummer might bust my kneecaps He would be better at describing the process more than me being famous and junk I quit smoking 2 years ago.Now I'm using that money for hot rods !!! Hey Matt whats up? no I didnt notice the date tag wasnt correctly set on my camera HA I bought the body Thanksgiving weekend of 07. I can operate a camera about as well as my computer! Thanks everyone !
well I got some more work done ! I cut the fronr frame horns off (horns belong on deer!) my plan is to have the spring mounted off the radius rods with the dropped axle hangin out front. I made some mods to the spring clamps and added another piece to the top and put some rivets in it.
Then I capped off the end of the frame with some plates and put some rivets in them too! heres what it looks like all together.
Thanks alot Bonesy just finished that yesterday ,tonight I started putting the ladder bar crossmember in hopefully have some pics tomorrow.
At this point, it seems that most steel bodies going on these rails are Model A. I can't believe that someone hasn't realized the market potential of stamping some proper pinched and flat topped Model A ready rails by now. Anyway, having said that, I would also like to see more info/pics on this.
I might be mistaken but there might have been a tech write up on this in Streetrodder on Brian Brennans A ch***is awhile ago?
I took a few shots of the rails where I dropped them 3/8ths at the cowl for those who wanted to see pics.
Yeah I went out originaly to buy two sedans from a friend of a friend. Then my dad told me about his cousin who lived in South Dakota who he had last visited at age 12 or something (early 1960's) and how on the farm was a model a,a T, and he thought a 32 3 window!!! I told him to get in contact with him to see if they were still there and he said " Oh that was so long ago they probably don't even live there anymore". Well guess what they still own the farm(summer home) and they said all the cars my dad remembered were still there and we were welcome to have them!! So needless to say we left Michigan after Thanksgiving dinner with a truck, trailer, and tools on a mission ftom god . We took a model a , a t cowl, a20's dodge bros. sedan and any other parts we could find. Oh by the way the 3 window coupe ended up being a willys knight but it was buried under here.
Check out the A sedan, it had been there for probably since the depression buried 8 inches into the ground . It had No rust!! definately not Michigan!!!
Thanks Johnny C ! I really appreciate everyones support! I just got in from trying to install my ladder bar crossmember hopefully have some pics in a few days.
