Looks like an industrial Hemi, most likely a 331 or 354

With that long bellhousing and hydro trans behind it, I would say early Cad or Olds. You can see a head sitting on top of the eng.

Starter is on right, so not Olds. Pictures are infuriating...every time I try to focus on head shape it sort of drifts away.

Late '50s Olds - looking at pic, what seems to be the starter is the oil filter. Casting # is Olds as well.

I had the same problem. Someone suggested it might be a Hemi, Hemi has a casting number listed as 1558929 while this one only has 558929.

  11. The hydro by itself is worth picking up; specially since the price is right...

  12. That ****** is a slant pan hydro.

Cant be a hemi-I see valve seats in the block.

It looks a lot like an old Cad flathead V-8. The way it has so many ports runners on top of the intake manifold.

Yah, the trans looks like an old hydro to me too.

    My vote=Cad F/H v-8

For sure early olds, the trans is mid 56 up duel range jet away, not your most desirable hydro.

1951 to early 1954 Chrysler 331 Hemi's had what most call an extended bell housing, the bottom of the extended block should have a cover the same length and dia. S****e the area just forward of the lifter cover below the intake, should see letters and 51 etc. for the year.

  17. After staring at the fuzzy pics some more, I'm starting to think that CW is correct...

Looks like 568929 cast number to me, and that would make it 371 Olds, '57-'60

    hell.........take it home
