I finally got my cars back! He did a lot of work to the 50 and the t-bird was just stripped for body work. The 50 is now in my buddies shop getting the chop finished and then in a few weeks its off to the Rod shop that I've had a big credit at for 3 years waiting for me to get my car back.(thanks guys).
In addition to the work that was done he gave back all my money i paid out and let me have the parts he bought and never used.Remote shaved door kit, E.M.S panels tune up parts that kind of stuff. im so glad to have it back and hopefully ill have it at Bo Huffs get together in July. it will be unpainted but on the road i cant wait ill keep you all updated on the build.

OUCH! that will leave a mark. Not as ugly of a mark as the start of that chop top..

I hope you get the top corrected and the car finished.

"Holy ****, Batman! The Joker cut the **** out of that Chevy! We must rescue it and get it back to its rightful owner!"

I'm glad to see you got that car back! What a shame so much time was wasted by the guy who supposed to be "building" it. Good luck on your build, now that you have it back!

I don't see it as that bad of a chop just in the really, really early stages..lol i have a pro on it now so it WILL look good. All i know is if this same Cole Foster guy that did this wants to work on your car, tell him NO! j\k any recommendations on what to do from here (seriously) as far as slanted b pillar or straight I'm thinking strait or keep the split windshield or one piece it.
Even colors will be appretiated. As of now im thinking high gloss black bottom and dark candy root beer top with light copper flake.

Its not ruined at all. it just needs to get finished. maybe seeing it in person would change your minds. If you've chopped a car chime in if you would and let me know how bad off do you think it is. The story was that i had given my cars and a bunch of money to a GOOD friend that was starting a custom buis. i wanted to help, it went sour and almost four years of trying i got them back. that's the short story but you get the point.

I'm guessing all that has to be done on the sails it cut the lower section off pull out the top, weld it do some pie cuts and start peicing it back. cut a section of the upright for the door to strech horizontal part, movethetop door corners back finish weld all welds and hope it turns out great. right? I wish it was as easy as saying that.lol

If you have a pro on it he'll go over everything with you that he plans on doing. I sure hope for your sake he is a true professional and a real metalworking bodyman.

Do a search, there have been a number of GREAT HAMB chops on here over the years. Read through those and you'll get an idea on how it should have been done from the start.

What does Cole have to do with this? Why throw his name in here? Cole does excellent work, this would of never happened at his shop. So why are we throwing his name out there? It's not a funny joke...

I think the worst part of that chop is most guys have a specific method and they're all a little different. So whoever finishes it, however talented they may be, is going to have to work the process differently than they're comfortable with.

2 suggestions. First is have a heart to heart with your new builder once he sees the car up close. If he talks about more than 3 or 4 hours of "undoing" it's likely time to start with a fresh donor roof.

Second part, if this has snowballed into tracking down another roof, is there something you can do to elevate the car to another level in exchange for your h***le? Like is there a buick or olds version with a better back window or smoother contours???

    good luck

The coolest thing about it is Marc still has the car and drives it ALOT. It's an icon around the Metro Detroit Area.

Thank you so much for those! I would be hugely interested in a H.A.M.B build if It doesn't work out with the new guy. I think it will, hes been in a few mags way back for chops hes done before. I'll have to get the issues for you later. one was a school bus. His name is Chris Ross if anyone from vegas knows him.

That actually doesnt look terrible. Not sure what the plan was with the A pillar but its got a really good shape to it and the rear window and quarter window shape seems to have a nice look to it. Good luck with it.

The real secret to most pros, is knowing when to let you see their work.

Choppin a top is kinda like ***. It's all great when its done, but unlike a **** star, nobody really wants to watch me do it :)
