Hi! A hood with 20 louvers is it shorter , than the 32ford hood with 25 louvers. Which 32ford does the 20 louvers fit and the 25 lovers fit.
    Thanks Roger

The 20 vent and the 25 vent hoods will interchange ... fit wise.
The 25 vent hood went into production on August the 18th 1932. It was designed to go on warm climate V8 equipped vehicles from Henry Ford. Everyone knows Henry's Flathead V8 had heating up issues. For those in the warmer climates ... it was more of a problem.

Not only does the 25 vent hood have more vents ... the vents are longer and are opened up a lot more.

    I just love this 1932 5W coupe of Z Diddy's ...

See how open the vents are ??
Allowing more heat to escape ... :D

That is one reason the 25 vent hood is so desired by a lot of 1932 Ford owners.

The "desirability" of the 25 vent hood has driven its value up out of reach of most of us. Just to make a comparison, what would a very good-condition 4-piece Henry-made Deuce hood bring today in the 20 vent and 25 vent configurations?

  5. Up to a grand,

    And up to 5 grand.

    Crazy huh.

The most I have seen a original 25 vent hood bring was 59 hundred and something dollars on eBay. There is one on eBay now. I have seen quite a few change hands at 35 hundred to 4 thousand dollars.

All my friends said I was crazy and stupid for paying 3 hundred for the black 25 vent hood sides shown above ...

But then again, it was 1980 or so. :) :)

  7. I was probably one of them. :p

But then again, many (not you) said I was crazy for spending almost $4000 for a new FXE-1200 in 1977!

Thanks for the input on the 32ford hood. Now I know what the deal is. I asked a lot of people at the car showns, and they didn't know. May be I should just put a top of the hood on, because I will be useing a flathead motor.
    Thanks Roger
