Very cool, Are the headlights off a car? I like the 40 and 41 Ford pick-ups with car front sheetmetal, its looks pretty good done that way. Whats your plans?
Thats one of the pictures they sent o me. I haven't seen the truck in person yet but early tuesday morning I'm headed on a 7 hr. drive to get it. I plan to upgrade the drive train and drive it. I will have to see how in looks you know how pictures are.
I don't know anything about it but I' going to take my camera and get some picture of the rest of the stuff he has. One of the pictures he sent look like the is either a 35 or 36 ford pickup to the p***enger side of the one I bought.
Good score, looks like a solid buildable truck. Hope the rear fenders are good, as decent steel '38-'41 rear fenders are scarce, though fibergl*** ones are available. About the headlight doors, the ones on it are '40 Ford Deluxe and '40 Merc. '40 Standard and '40-'41 pickup headlight doors are painted--the painted and chromed ones will interchange. In a sense the chrome ones could be considered correct, while the chrome headlight doors were not a factory option, I'm sure that any Ford dealer in 1940-41 would happily install a set before the customer took delivery in order to make a sale, so it could be an unofficial dealer install option, and it's quite possible that some '40-'41 pickups have had chrome headlight doors since they were new. '40 pickup uses same parking light lens as '40 car; 41 pickup uses a different lens that sticks up a little and is easier to see than the flat '40 lens.
Rear fenders look good in the other pictures I got but some one cut the bed rails off with a torch it looks like but I'm getting another bed with tail gate and another set of rear fenders with the deal. I didn't get picture of the extra stuff though, so I hope the are good.
I'll be back with the 41 on Wednesday with some pictures of it and better ideas of what I'm going to do with it. Hope he has more stuff I can buy while I'm there.
