Well I got some disapointing news today when I found out my fuel log and fittings won't be here till next week. Plus the linkage isn't quite finished and I have to get different throttle shafts on two of the carbs. So instead of cobbling it together I decided I'll just have to push it into the show (Won't be the first time for me) Thanks to fab32 for setting up the linkage/carbs while I was on vacation last week. I pick up the grille shell and headlight buckets from the painter tomorrow and I just have some polishing and final clean up and I'll be all set. I really wanted to drive into the show but I'd rather wait and make sure everything is correct. I guess six carb setups aren't for people short on patience. See everybody this weekend.
That is looking great, glad to hear you aren't going to coble the last few details just to drive into a show. If it looks that good it won't matter anyway.
My "Cold Hearted *****" had a froze up fuel pump, leaking lines, & a sticky float valve. Amazing what you really CAN fix with a hammer! She will be at the show, even if I have to drag her rusty *** in on a chain!
Interesting question. I praise the old guys I hang out with quite a bit on here and I hope it doesn't seem like *** kissing but I wouldn't have a hot rod if it wasn't for them, fab32 in particular. After I cobbled **** together and got in way over my head I almost gave up in early 2007 and made a plea for help on this board. I freaked out, stripped it bare, cut the ch***is in two and shoved the body in the corner of the garage. After reading about my dilema fab32 came over the next day and got me and my ch***is squared away. After that visit and pep talk it only took me one year and two weeks to go from nothing more than two halves of a ch***is and a rusty sedan with the roof cut off to driving my hot rod around the ba*****t of Cobo Hall last March. In fact Frank (fab32) and Rich (Fuelpump) were at my house helping out for two days straight before Autorama last year. Along the way I also had a HAMB thrash where a bunch of friends from this site gave up a day and helped me work on the car. So the short answer is one year two weeks, but I had A LOT of help from my friends and that's what hot rodding is all about. Here's some shots of the freak out, the thrash, and the finished, driving product.
Scott, The main thing I will miss is hearing all the alarms going off in the tuner cars this year You sure light them up last year
^^^Bad***!^^^ I heard you originally tracked down my new intake from a guy who bought it for the 97's that were on it.
Yeah, it sure would've been nice to get it with the carbs, but I was pleased to score it. What's really nice, is that you ended up with it, and it will now be more than a wall hanging. Maybe you could rescue his coupe too!!! See ya at Garlits???? hatch
