WOW that is pure hot rod right there. Couple of questions for you? 1. what are the taillights 2 was this one of the cars that was for sale on the goodguys scottsdale show last year of the year before? 3. More info on the plastic for the windows please.
Ditto! Congrats on hittin' a home run! Hope you don't sell it (to anyone but me). You HAVE to drive it to the HAMB Drags!
Looks good. I would like to see your build pictures. Did you square up the body using an original floor? My next project is a floor less 34 5 window.
here's some of the build pics, didn't take a ton of them so these are mostly just during the chop you can see the new floors in this picture here you can see how much shorter the roof is with the metal removed when you work alone you have to find creative ways to hold stuff in place you can see how the cowls going to get cut cowl cut tacked back at an angle because the roof is getting moved back you have to cut and slide the upper part of the b pillar forward getting closer, the outer sheet metal on the a pilars was really bad from rust forming around the factory lead seams, so they got replaced taillights are 41 hudson, same as calori 36 yes this is one of the bodies from the swapmeet at the 07 scottsdale gg show, i bought them both with plans of doing the other one as a lakes car but ended up selling it to buy a roadster project, you can just see the roof of the other 34 in the first picture. the window plastic came from these guys. http://www.ridoutplastics.com/ lucky, no lizard skin just pitted 75 year old metal. for the floor and rockers i just made all new ones, the repops are way pricey and the car got channelled anyways. to square everything up i took a bunch of measurements off a friends car and checked all my diagonal measurements a hundered times before welding the floor in. glad everyone digs it, the angle chop pisses off a few people but i've wanted to try one for awhile and this body seemed like a good one to give it a shot on. it ended out coming pretty close to what i had in my head. oh yeah it will be for sale soon if anyones interested send me a pm.
duke, not sure the exact amount on the channel as there was no floor/subrails to beging with but it's close to 2" just enough that the tail pan kinda hugs the gas tank without the tank cover. clutched, haven't run it yet, in the middle of wiring right now. should make the first trip under it's own power over the weekend.
again it took a few extra days, had it all set to fire monday, started putting the fluids in and as fast as i was filling the radiator it was draining out the bottom. apparently missed a spot with the soldier when it got shortened. anyways back together and actually running and moving under it's own power. i heart isky 5 cycle cams
I can't get over the chop - I love the bad boy look. Too bad we have to see at night, the sans headlights shot looks so cool.
i've hated the headlights on every car i've built, cars are just so much better looking without them.
Why were people pissed off about the chop?..............(this place is F'n strange sometimes!) I like this car alot, nuff said!
ben your always welcome to stay, we got the new swap spaces for next year so no more mexican polka music, farting chevy 6's and pot smell at 2 am. we'll be closer to that yellow 40 sedan with the vinyl sticker stuff on it. get your shit together for bonneville and plan on the whole week if you can as i could use an extra hand out there. rick there's only been a few guys that didn't like the chop in person, they were resto rod type guys and thought i should have left the body stock, after seeing pics of how bad the body was when i got it they didn't seem to mind it as much.
