Lengthening it just to improve the driving position sounds rather drastic, I doubt you'd go to hell for it and if you did you'd be well back in the queue.

I think it's just missing a pickup bed - or maybe a hose and ladder?

Man, that is already at a point where it needs to be cut up and just dying for someone with vision to come along and make that car all it could ever hope to be. You can give it a new lease on life. You can slice and dice to your heart's content ... I don't hear any saws or grinders.

  8. were I to go with the vanden plas, it would all be saws and files: going to be a carpenter! :D

Go with the vanden plas! Want some pointers on "period correct"? Check out the downloads on Google Books. Go to the automotive section and then look at the full version only titles. There are a couple of complete, very nice books on early coachbuilding that just might come in handy on a project like that.

    Do it!

Putting a coachbuild body on a 1920s chassis? They were all at it back then. Yours would just be a bit newer than those built at the time. Whats the problem?

I like the decked style, but I also like the Bentley look too. I feel your pain. I have a Packard race car in my head from the early 20s and even have a chassis and cowl to get started. My problem is time and $$$$.

I'd definately study all the long distance euro rally cars from the day. Add a bit of "Indy" style seasoned with all the road going needs and there certainly is some realistic potential there. Going to hell? Yeah just for thinkin it...but that's where you get laid!!

Nah, the dog is just lowered, that's all :D

  21. even the dhag's come kustom. keep'em real short like that, so they can walk underneath the car and knock off all the dirt and grim from driving. :D

  22. Strangely enough, the car was pulled out of a field on Black Mountain Road in San Diego. It had a big industrial motor welded to the back of it and was being used as a well pump. The front part of the body was a left over in the barn.

I can add nothing constructive or funny to this, I will say thanks for a great thread!

  29. not so much, the radiator makes for a really small head board and the frame is about the width of a twin. though, have done more with smaller establishments than that.

  30. actually it ate a box full of those little dehumifier packs that you find when shipping electronics. :)
