Ok I'm trying to figure out what make and model car had a half globe like face and the speed moved past the needle in a circle. I cant remember what it is. Can ya help Me out??
Didn't an early Edsel, 58, have a circular speedometer like that? I don't know about the globe type face?
'60-'62 Chrysler has a needle that moves, the numbers don't move. 51-52 Pontiacs have a half-circle speedo in a cluster, probably a lot of other cars have that half-circle shape. Pretty sure some 56-58 Studebakers (not the Hawks, the other models) have a speedo like the Edsel does.
Sounds like '58 Edsel. It kind of looks like a large diameter dashboard comp***. There's one in a local wrecking yard I'm going to pull in a few weeks.
I think it was a Studebaker (Commando or president) in 1957/58 that had a speedo in a pod on top of the dash.
Ya 57 & 8 stude presidents have them, the edsels have them, oldsmobile tornadoes have them, one of the citroens have them, and probably some others too. BTW they are called Rotating Drum Speedometers. And they rock.
