tried to talk my self out of going to the thaw the best I could ?...

we had a blast. and the Torques put on a great show again

got on the road early friday to calmly drive the back roads and have time to be able to stop along the way and get threw the traffic before it got bad . cause IH 35 sucks

281 is a nice drive up

bunch of cool buildings in old towns all the way

kelly can only read wine maps ;) so we stopped at a few to stretch our pinkie fingers  along the way.

Its kind of weird now but I stopped to take a picture where I lost a axle
two years ago going up to good guys

pulled right up along side the crew like we had planed it ?????
we were just going to meet at the track

checked in to the motel and relaxed a while and got to meet
stray cat customs I think ? good to meet ya.

    and yea it was cold

OK the coupe was doing great, then on the 12th pass I launched and my ps wheel just stayed there with the brake drum and part of the axel ?
dammit the other axel broke and all the brake part`s scattered along the track
    never thought I could break a 8 inch with a flathead ?
now I have broken two axles
I think some one said if your not breaking shit your not trying hard enough. I agree gonna have to buy some better axles before the next race and then some slicks ?........

then kelly informed us that the medical term for what happened to my rear end was called a "prolapsed anus" that was good for a laugh but dam the car`s broke bad at the starting line and there`s a race in the morning.
kinda gives you a sicking helpless feeling ?

but wait did I mention I have a great crew ! tim said he had a axle at home about a hour away, in his Anglia but it would be hard to get to it so we took off
and ron lugnut II said he would pull it apart while we went to get parts
    now it`s getting existing

tim`s been on here for ever but dosen`t post anything ? so I asked if I could post some pictures of his cool shop behind his house.

of course the axle I need is up against the wall so we had to move allot of stuff

we got the axle/ backing plate/ and a box of extra break parts just to be sure, we had more then we needed, thanks tim I owe ya big time !
then headed back but the track was closed and we were a hour away
so we headed for the parking lot party!
that was inside again cause it was too dam cold

Nice write-up Casey...but I don't want to hear any of this talking yourself out of it again...That ol blue coupe is becoming a staple of the Thaw.... In fact i think that makes the Torques part owner :~)

    Hey Casey,

Very kool post! I was going to take pictures and do a story on the way down thing but
I was having too much fun. It was nice to get the chance to meet ya. I've heard the
saying "running the wheels off of a car" but you took it serious. The whole time at the
track you ran the coupe hard and you had to thave the most miles, 1/8 th at a time...
Very kool Hot Rod & the success is well deserved.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

stayed up to late or early ???? partying and laughing with the crazy people I call friends :) the parking lot parties are worth the trip alone .
I was so worn out and tired, but had a hard time sleeping thinking about the races and fixing the coupe.
we had a good breakfast and headed into battle sat morning ;)
tim tried to block the wind with his coupe god it was cold !

the axel slid right in brakes went together slow sure glad we brought extra parts, they came in handy we were missing one big spring and it tore up the pins and retainers

then we got it all back together and the battery was low so we jumped it off
then the dam throttle cable came apart? got it to the pit`s and they started time trials and a stupid cable is keeping me down now ?
took awhile to fix that thanks to yo baby for a drill and a sheet metal screw we patched it back together .
ok let`s go nothing could possibly go wrong now :rolleyes:

doc made it wohooo ! great to see you my friend :)

Casey, I'm working hard to get you some competition next year.. this is what my engine looked like 2 days ago.. so I've got some work to do. But should be ready in time to shake it down and get it dialed in before next year.

Loved seeing you out there and winning race after race against those ugly sbc's ..

but wait the weekend isn't over yet !
on the way to the fort worth car show we stopped by what is left of green valley raceway it was really sad
it was such a neat old drag strip that was out in the country the thing I remember the most was the old lady's farm house on the other side of the road at the end of the track and the stories of dragsters landing in her trees when a chute would fail ?

Hey Casey nice to finally meet you.
The only reason you beat me was that I took the time to show the people in the bleachers the front of my car as I went by. I am so proud of my new YELLOW paint job I take every chance I can to show it off.
