Hey. Here you go.
I got the wiper motor from Fillingstation.com $40
http://www.fillingstation.com/links.htm
Motors are , depending on voltage and black or SS, part numbers VT-6VBK, VT-12VBK, VT-12VSS, Kit with arm and blade VT-12VK . I had to bend the arm to get it to park to the left in a vertical position. JC Whitney has one that I just got for Nash Hot Rod this last summer. I like it because it has the switch right on the motor body, don’t have to install a remote switch.

First picture is looking up under the visor, see air horns and spot light above.
Second and Third pictures are of wiper motor inside. Behind the upholstered board, (can’t take it off to show because The wiper motor all has to come out to get the board down, but …..There are two loops, on the windshield lift channel, the hole for the wiper shaft is drilled through riser mechanism mount board and the outer structure just to the left of the left loop on the channel, as far up as possible. It’s a tight fit to get at a maximum about 2 inches of lift on the glass, but that’s enough to ventilate pretty good. The way the dash is situated the most air goes down in front of the dash and on to your feet anyway. Note; If I were doing it again I would crowd it up even higher, as I did on my Nash Hot Rod I actually cut a relief in the visor for the wiper arm to clear.

Last picture is outside, you can see that the bottom edge of the glass is about an inch above the top of the dash, and there is another inch below that so I’m getting about two inches of lift when original was around three and a half???, not sure I never measured it!

Hey Mink,

Any idea where I could find similar drawings to the side view you've attached to this post?

BTW, just found this thread - awesome amount of info! Please keep adding to it.
I've inherited my dad's 31 coach project (which he put on hold to help me build my truck) and I need to do some conceptualizing...I'll be posting up ideas and soliciting opinions.

thx for sharing all this info.

Ghost and Nash, thank you both for your input, i did use SPW on my 37 Ford years ago.I really wasn't that happy with that unit, but in defense of Irvin that owned it at that time, I had the alum. tube bending in some unusual ways. Plus, the biggest thing is; I'm cheap, so I will try to do what Nash did and limit the motion of the front windshield, Nash I have a P3 train horn in my collection, you should hear that thing @ 175PSI, I live in the country and blow it at midnight new years eve, my buddy that lives 5 miles always listens at that time and always calls me to tell me, Loud and Clear, you think I shoud mount it on the old Heap?
No takers on the wood pieces so far, I'll hang on to them for a while longer....Thanks to all.
Hey Gilty post up some pics, welcome to the Termite crowd.

Like I said; it's a project :)
I feel pretty fortunate - a lot of you started with less/worse than I have, and they are looking great! There's hope for mine yet.

Back in the late 80's my dad figured it would be a while before he got to working on it, so he it shot with primer to impede the rust. His progress so far (which stopped around '89) was full fendered, Street Rod focused, so it has an independent front suspension tacked under it.
My intent is to go traditional and as original as my budget and safety (need to haul the wife and kids around) allows. Needless to say, I'll be making some changes.

Please keep feeding this thread; I need the info! thx, gilty

Yep;
I like loud horns, would never part with my air horns, they were on a 70s Mack Truck. The truck had two air tanks, I mounted one in back, pump it with electric tire pump thats mounted behind the seat, 110 psi works great, a real blast, I let kids sit in the truck and blow them at shows! The horns are virtually indestructable, have brass diaphragms.

There is a metal guide fit to the glass on each side of the windwhield that follows a slot in the side fixture. Use the regular rubber strip that window glass is set in window channels. It's pressed/forced into place, tight fit, and doesn't need any adhesive.

Hey nash is there a felt seal that guides the metal on both sides. And what about the seal for the top of the windshield. I already know about the bottom seal. Thanks in advance...ghost

Hey Ghost! Top of the day to you.
At the top, tacked to the wood with a metal strip was a rubber lip all the way across, just touched the glass. On the sides, my '29 didin't have the metal strips I described before(They might have slid up and down in a rubber seal?)
I used/improvised regular felt channel like door windows have.

And back at ya nash. That's kinda what I figured on sealing it up. My main concern will be wind and water. that will drive ya nuts. When your trying to have a nice quiet ride. no what I mean. On another note I've got a line on a basket case 37 chevy 1/2 ton everything except engine and trans. But with a clear colo title. Gonna go look at it this weekend. Hmmm. If it works out maybe a gasser style, maybe I'm dreaming, maybe I don't need it. Your 02 please...ghost

heres the little i did today. Trimmed the foam and relised that i need to move the sit further back about 9 inches i think. which mean shortening the seat 3 inches so it can clear the side pillars. how far back do i place the seat??

On that '31 I restored back in '97, I didn't have it upholstered yet and was driving in a snow storm, looked up and snow was coming in above the windshield, had to take it out and put a seal in it. It still had the metal nail strip with rotted rubber under it, rest of seal was torn off.

'37 with a title! If you bail, let me in.......... that's my birth year.

Hey nash I went and looked at that 37 chevy truck. And it is really butchered. It is a 37 cab , hood, and grille. 36 fenders that have been repaired with galvenized sheet metal and pop rivets. Running boards are the same big holes, and pop rivets. The firewall has been cut out. But only half. looks like with a torch. And the way they cut it. Looks like they were going to put a slant six in the hole If you really need it let me know. And thanks for the info on the windshield...ghost

Hey Ghost. Sounds like a $99 truck, $150 with clear title. If it's much more than that, no thanks.

IN "the filling station" catalog there is a kit for the windshield rubber. I got one minus the top rubber and seems to be OK. I made all the wood for mine so I have had to do some fitting. Will post a picture if I get a chance

Hey 28chevy; Thanks, I'd really like to see what the side pieces look like. I've done three of these and those parts were missing on all three. Just couldn't bring myself to spring for the loot for the new kit!

Hey Ghost; Filling station weatherstrip pn 70-2820 or 70-79 looks like the one I used in the '31 windows and windshield seals........

This is a picture of the outside in, with the glass partway up. The green part in the back is the piece in the inside of the car that holds the rubber track to the wood. The second picture is from the inside showing that. With the windshield down.

28chevy . Thanks. The seal kit was fifty$ so I used regular felt channel without the metal strips on the sides of the windshield.....................

Got my 28 frame back from the sandblaster this past week, and have cut some of the boxing plates - been prepping to weld them in, and hope to attack them tomorrow. I'll probably start a thread for my car, so I don't keep getting things mixed in...

howdy Jim... I went and looked for the kit you were talking about and could not find it at the filling station. Do you have a part # for the whole kit? And do you remember the cost. I would like to buy one. Thanks in advance...ghost

The column will be original but modified to work with a vega box. That I got as a full kit through speedway motors. Box, Mounting bracket, And pittman arm. I am planning on hooking these up to a 32 ford style front suspension with hair pins I did not want the chevy springs hanging out front on this one. Are ya getting stuff done...ghost
