For those in the know, how has the plan for Enhanced Vehicle Safety Inspection Stations worked out?

Wasn't 2007 supposed to be the start of the "Enhanced" station plan? If I want to get a Specially Constructed vehicle titled under the MV-426 process, is there a friendly station in Pittsburgh that can do it? Would I be better off waiting until 2008? Will the Enhanced plan be withdrawn?

Does this matter if I want to get a car titled under House Bill 2066?

Any help would be appreciated. PM me if you prefer. Thanks!

    Anyone?

I thought that PennDOT would be back-pedalling by now, like with the emissions stations.

I thought the same thing. We now have several in this area and my wife works at one. I still won't go through the BS though.

I don't know anything about that 2066 but I could ask my wife to look into it.

    Thanks, Clark.

I think that the HB 2066 allows hot rods without fenders or hoods, but requires an Enhanced inspection station title.

    Thanks again,

So far I've only talked to a couple guys that have had the new inspection thing done. It's not as bad as I thought that it was goin' to be. I don't think that it is goin' to go away.
I heard that when they get the enhanced thing up and runnin' for awhile that they are goin' to crack down on the modified pre 48's with standard tags.
If you find an inspector that knows what he is doin' and your car is built half decent you'll be OK.
I will go through the BS, pay some sales tax, and it's all good then.
It's only the enhanced stuff for the first inspection then once a year for the regular inspection.
What year and type of car do you have?
I'm buildin' a '34 Ford coupe the only thing that changed for me is the way that the gas tank in the trunk was set up. I am glad that I'm in the middle of the build and can work with the current laws.
    Have fun,Smokey

Clark, How did you register yours if you are not dealing with the BS of a street rod plate? I am finishing up my fenderless sedan and want to try and minimize the BS.

    Thanks

It sounds like it is a good time to join SEMA SAN, if you haven't joined already.

This can't be successful for the state. It can't be going well, although maybe most people don't care.

I might also want to title a Cobra-type vehicle. Is that dead with the pre-1948 rules?

    Is there any update?
