I was just talking to Grundy on the phone, and the guy said that the underwriters won't usually insure pickups valued at under $10,000. I really don't think my truck is worth $10K, and I was gonna value it at $5K. What are you F-1 owners doing for insurance??
Grundy would still insure your truck for less money than your local company even if you insure it for 25,000. BTW cool truck.
Why not make out an application and send it to Grundy and see if they will insure it for $10,000? Or maybe talk to a rep, ones on here, and ask if you could send pics and info then they would tell you what they would insure it for. I don't know your truck, but possibly you're undervaluing it.
I insure both my F-1's though erie insurance (who I insure my house and my wifes car though) with an agreed value of 12,000 for my "sleeper" F-1 and 5,000 for my 4x4 f-1. It runs around 300 a year to insure both of them.
I have mine covered with Hagerty, I have it valued @ $20,000 (the more value the higher the premium)!
Higher value being more money isn't true in all cases. There are steps/step in Grundys coverage that when you are above a set amount it goes to a different carrier and is less
I insure both my F-2 pickup and F-1 panel with American Family, the same company that I have for my home and daily drivers. They started covering vintage vehicles a few years back. There's no limitations to where or when I drive them. I made sure to ask the agent about this before I switched because I know most companies have a limit on how many miles, when and where you can drive you old car or truck. I have the F-2 insured $5000 and the panel for $7000.
I had Haggerty for years, slowly but surely the yr rates crept up to about $400. for One vehicle, I switched to Grundy and now I insure my F1 , (6K value), 78 Caddy 8K and my 37 Chevy 25K for a total of 318 per yr......now you can decide
Hey there-- Give us a call back! I showed a couple photos of your truck to our VP Collector Car Insurance (Chuck) and he said he would insure it at $5K.. You can ask for Bill or Chuck.
