Anyone know of anyone that offers these in different sizes ? Need one for a 2 1/2 front tube. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Front-Frame-Perch-Kit,3312.html
Make a cardboard patern of what you need and take it to the nearest trade school or high school metal shop cl***. Oh, and when they ask, it's a support bracket for some kind of farm equipment.
Yep, 3" is pretty much the standard. I forget the numbers, but the torsional strength of 3" tube is like exponentially better than even 2 1/2". I bet the engineers could explain it in detail. Tim D.
And where, pray tell, did you ever find any "2 1/3" " tube? In fact, where did you even find a ruler that would measure in "thirds"? Did you mean "2 1/2" " or "2 1/4" "? If you used a dial caliper you may have seen 2.375 which is 2 3/8.
I'd guess there's enough metal in the vertical sides of the Speedway bracket you referenced to cut a 1.25" radius out of it and still have sufficient structural integrity for a sensible size/weight motor.
