I was talking with a guy that bought a '37 Ford 2 dr sedan flatback at barret jackson in Las Vegas. I went to their site to look at the car. It says the car was bought for 12700. and the guy said it came with a trailer, and it was 12700. too. Is this a mis print? The car looks great in the pictures. Did anyone see this car there? What kind of shape was it in? Was it worth the money? I think I posted this in the wrong forum! oops! Newbie! <!-- / message -->
Ill try. Here is the link http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/w_search.aspx#gridview If this doesnt work do car search, lot 216 for the car and 216.1 for trailer
the guy had said it was $40,000. canadian landed, which is about 32000 USD, is it still a good deal? I mentioned he may sell it, the car and trailer now have 17" torque thrust II's on it now. Is it worth the 32000 USD now?
i don't understand your numbers , they sold for $11,500 each..i ***ume that there was a buyers premium to make them $12,500 each for a total of $25,000 . it cost him $7,000 to have them shipped to Canada?
Apparently he had to pay government tax of 5%, Provincial(state)tax of 7%, 20 cents on every dollar - exchange rate from canadian to american dollar
Even at $32K that looks like a good deal. Very sharp car and trailer. Try to build it for that. I love 37 slantbacks. I own one but not that nice. Looks awesome in black.
I like the car, I would like to make an offer to the guy, I thought about offering him $40k Canadian to try and get it. I have not found anther slantback in Canada for this money or even on in the US for 32k. If anyone has one forsale anything send me the link.
I saw that car and trailer at the auction. Very nice. Don't know what it's worth, but that doesn't sound unreasonable at all.
Who cares if he, or anyone else for that matter, would buy it. If you like it and you feel it's worth the money than you buy it.
God, I wish my first 'hotrod' was that nice............... As for "is it worth it"? Probably. Seems like an odd place to buy a car to flip though. I'd take it to someone who really knows "hot rods" for a look over before plunking down the money though. There has to be a reason for the 'quick' sell.
Depends on the day..some great deals on certain days.. gotta include the buyers fee..taxes and transport also... Nice looking car...
As far as the 'quick' sell, the car is not listed "for sale". I just like the car. I thought I would just make an offer to see if the guy goes for it. Some guys just say "make me an offer" when you ask if they had ever thought of selling. I thought I would try.
if the guys garage is open today, we'll be talking. The season will be starting soon and if the car needs anything, I have some time before summer.
If I understand it, they sold as a PAIR for $11,500 hammer price. NOT 11,500 each. Seems the guy is wanting to make quite a profit. But that is his prerogative. To the poster, What is it worth to you? Would I pay him that much profit? Probably not unless it was really what I wanted. If it was really what I wanted and I had the money, yes I would pay it.
Why not look for a car listed For Sale? Why throw money at this car when not on market? Unless you have $$ to burn.
I spoke to the guy yesterday, the car is not for sale(understandable) as asked him what the car needed and he said it need nothing, but a few things could be updated. The problem is that the canadian dollar is at 1/4 the value of the US dollar. I have not found anything on this side of the border that is (in my opinion) that nice for the money.
There are lots of nice cars around the board that can be bought if you can find one that suits your taste.
