So I just got back from a military trip, but during my trip I had one hell of a hot rod theme going on.

First I was trying to sell off my parts truck, but made a deal with the guy I bought it from almost two years ago and he's getting it back and I'm getting a 50 Chevy 4 door. So I was thinking wow. what a deal already, Thanks HAMB.

Then I get online and a guy from IA who moved to AZ sends me a message about having a 28 Model A for sale. Now no offense but I'm not as keen for the 28-9s as I am for the 30-31s. So I tell him to send me some photos, he tries and they don't make it. Oh well, must be for a reason right, so I decide to forget about it since I'm getting the 50 and it'll be fun to chop and drive with the family. Then he sent the pics again to my military email, GOT EM!! and it turns out to be a 31 Model A with the indented firewall.

Well I just got my tax return back and have every intention to pay off some bills from building my white truck. well I mention this to the wife. She says "do whatever you want, if you think its a good idea go for it." well I barely got off the phone with her and called the guy back. "Ok, I'll take the model A".

Now the waiting game, that was earlier in the week. I get home, get paid from the army for the 18 days, take the money out of the bank and get some shut eye. Wake up today, pick up a buddy and a trailer enroute to Brooklyn, IA!

Its raining, and that sucked. I had seen other people put Model A's in the back on their trucks. I was hoping it would fit in my Avalanche.

So I get there and meet Brandon, and here's the rest of the story:

So there is the body, the frame and driveline is still at his shop, I have to go back and get it when the ground dries out. Now I have to figure out how it all goes back together. I don't plan on working on it for a while, just parts gathering for now, swap meets here I come.

I have great expectations and I plan on learning a TON from this project. I know its kinda rough, but I'm not on a time line and I just wanna have fun with this one. I have a SBC already and I will be putting a T5 behind it. Not sure what else after that.

    Thanks for looking!!

and no I didn't pay $100 for it, I staged that so I could mess with people and a certain friend. (I'm in the gray sweatshirt and Brandon is the other)

thanks guys, I plan on using all my resources and hopefully not buying any repop parts at all. I doubt it will happen though. I seriously need some rear metal and some measurements for the floor. I think I need to find a restorer and get a bunch of measurements and photos of how things go together. I have a few pieces here that I have NO IDEA what they are.

And Spencer, you can't revoke our friendship, we have so much more business to do in the long future!

and about the rain, my wife said that to me this morning, you know its going to rain today, right.. I just smiled and got in my truck!!!

I am also contemplating a Nailhead instead of a SBC. Nothing is final till paint right?

thanks guy. Now the hard part, deciding what style to build it. I really like Evel's classic look. I am thinking either Maroon or Dark Green for the color. I don't want a black one even though its my favorite color. I want it to be a little different.

Well out to the garage I go. A buddy is coming over to check it out and it has dried now, (HEATED GARAGE!!) so Im going to get some more pics of the extra pieces and stuff.

And thanks to those who are already offering help with finding parts and selling me their stuff. If anyone else has anything I am always looking

today my wife and I were going to the mall, I was getting the stroller from the garage and she kind of walked fast so she could peek in the garage to check out the Model A, I told her to give me time and it would be a GEM, she just looked over at me and I knew what she was thinking..... (Its a rust bucket now, but I see his desire in his eyes), she smiled and said I can't wait to go for a ride!

I got stuck inside for a little bit waiting for my buddy, its pouring down raining outside and he doesnt move fast when its raining..lol out I go now.

and the gas pump was bought by my buddy who went with me, he got a deal on it. I was debating on it but I need the money to buy a deck lid and so forth. Its his second pump so far this year. Ill post another pic of it later for ya

wildwilly im hoping to finally meet you this year, maybe you can give me some ideas and so forth.

Should I shoot for something that can be taken on the salt someyear or just a hot rod?

Also where is the best place to look for ideas on making the rear subframe, I have been reading a bunch of old build threads and it seems no one focuses on that at all.
