In the past I have had good luck using a product called SEA_FOAM for freeing a siezed engine. Well it looks like I am at it again, as I sit here waiting to see if my newly given in-liner 6 will rotate again, I was wondering what you guys have used with success to free siezed/stuck engines.. So far I have a nice mixture of P-B BLASTER, and MARVEL MYSTRY OIL.. I am on my way to get some SEA-FOAM as well. If all else fails I will atleast have enough flamables to catch it on fire...So I put it to you guys what's your tried a true tricks..

Too much marvels is expensive. I think an ATF base would be cheapest right?

have you looked inside the cylinders to check for rust, if its rusty then i wouldn't try and roll it over, if it does have rust i would pull the head and remove the rust and try and save the pistons, if theres no rust i like to use combustion chamber cleaner to free things up.

Too late now, but if you don't have everything covered in oils and shit, medicinal iodine works best to remove rust from iron.

  9. Ive been told Coca-Cola works great, so i just poured a 1.5 into my banger bores.

An even mixture of Marvel Mystery Oil and Canadian Whiskey.

The Marvel is for the car.

Ive done the Seafoam + Diesel Fuel + PB + Marvel Mystery then letting it soak for about 24 hours then just start cranking at it where ever you can like the flywheel should work eventually.......

i use a mix, it's in my black bottle of "un-stickerizer".

it's marvel, diesel, atf, pb blaster, kroil, two stroke oil, zippo fluid, white grease.
just shake well , spray it into the spark plug hole for 3 seconds, screw the plug in, wait
a day, pull the plugs and crank it.
    works for me every time.

Just remember it´s not only pistons that stick!
The last couple of engines I "unstuck" had stuck lifters, nothing wrong with bores or pistons.
Another one was bought because top was pulled, and bores looking super nice
Pulled pan and bottom of bores and cam was "crusty" :-(
Learned something : Always be suspicious :)

Have heard lots of folks who swear by a 50-50 mix of acetone and ATF fluid. Another one I just thought of is the stuff ole Shel pitches on TV, Z-Max, its supposed to penetrate the metal. Might give that a try, maybe mix it with some Kroil or Marvel.

  17. While all the goofy stuff is being used which in most cases is far too thick to get to the problem area old folks like me have been unsiezing engines with dot 3 brake fluid for years. I wouldnt recommend it though. It doesnt have a fancy name. It comes in a plain bottle , it smells funny and none of the "experts" who have yet to do their first engine have ever used it. Another reason not to use it, well because it actually works.
Brake fluid is what is referred to as hydroscopic. It will absorb water (moisture) which is what caused your motor to sieze in the first place. Because of that it is able to penetrate the same places. ATF will not go there. It is too thick or its molecules are too big to get where it needs to be. It also will not mix with water so it will not go where wateror moisture will. Same of a lot of the other concoctions. Last motor i unsiezed was a 5.7 hemi i got for free becaue it had sat outside in the rain and snow for over a year with the heads off. Came free in two days with the BF. Currently my recently purchased 318 poly is sitting with Bf in the cylinders. It was stuck when I bought it . I will know in a few days if it comes free. I usually soak the cylinders then smack each piston with a block of hardwood and a hammer. Usually it is successful. I said Dot 3 not silicone BF BTW.

I have used Marvel and Reselone (not sure if i spelled that one right) mixed in the bores. One time it worked on a 327 .I did the same thing on a junk 235 that had been sitting for 15 years outside .When i finally got it to break loose with a breaker bar on the crank after soaking for a few weeks it had less than ten psi of compression in one cylinder .The other 5 holes had about 60-80 psi .I got it to start but it ran like shit (go figure).I suspected i broke a ring when i forced it loose.I gave it away to a guy to rebuild since i had no $$ in it and i didnt need it anyway .Moral of the story is dont try to force it loose ...

I like a 50/50 mixture of diesel fuel and atf. Works pretty well and doesn't break the bank if you need alot of it.

Dolmetsch, Do you think the BF trick would work on a seized 40 steering box? I'm trying to find a simple solution. I've been reading all the molasses, vinegar, marvel, PB, ATF & Coca Cola stuff...i'm afraid my neighbors are gonna think I have a meth lab going in my shop when they smell these concoctions.

  22. What have U got to lose. i never tried it on a steering box but i am sure you have some on your shelf. Give it a whirl.
