Just got home from the big swap meet at Nebraska State Fairgrounds in Lincoln. I had a great time even though it was very cold and wet. Rained overnight and there was a north wind and misty precipitation. In spite of that the event was full of vendors and full of buyers. I saw people buying all day and carrying stuff to their trucks. I had a big day myself and bought 31 wheels. Oddly I didn't buy anything except wheels although I did not plan it that way. Was able to score many 16 inch Ford wire wheels, Kelsey Hayes 16's, Plymouth artillery wheels, Ford rims, and Model A wheels. Some were blasted and some were even powder coated. There was only one heated building and one cold building with the rest being outside. Only one set of restrooms and NO PORT-A-POTTIES !!!! Can you believe that? I want to thank my pal Terry from Kansas for hauling home 20 or so of my wheels. Thanks Terry! Anyway, here are some of the photos I took outside. I took these photos JUST for Rich Venza in GA who used to live in Lincoln and worked for Speedy Bill. I wanted to prove to Rich that I could multi-task. I was able to shop, pull a wagon, take photos, talk on cell phone, and chew gum at the same time. Enjoy..... <center>

You are likely to see just about anything at a swap meet. That's what makes them great. The thrill of the hunt.<center>

There was alot of old tin for sale. Most all of it was rusty but good project material nonetheless. <center>

I showed up at lunch time to Malcolm's hamburger fry as advertised. There was no food to be had. Just these two Hamber's hanging around. Gary (hotrodroadster) and Nick (Malcom) from Omaha. I also saw Malcolm's Uncle John. I missed my other pal Hellraiser. We were supposed to meet up and played phone tag instead. I was bummed about that. <center>

Yeah, it seemed like everyone was cleaning out their garages and getting rid of their unfinished projects. It was good to see all this stuff for sale. My brother in law bought several items for his projects too. Now, looking forward to Chickasha, OK in 2 weeks.

I thought it was a great swap meet, missed out on a 52 Caddy bumper w/ dagmars that sold for $50!! Saw Nick and Rob Lee, but was on mission when I saw them, so didnt get a chance to say hello. Hope next year turns out well with the move. And yes that was about normal for the lincoln swap meet as far as vendor turn out and the weather! It always seems to rain, snow or even hail!

Paul, was good to see you. Also saw Cornfed and his brother Alchemy,TJ, Rob Lee and Xderilict. Weather was acutually not bad for Lincoln and there was a lot of good potential projects. That damn Malcolm jacked us on the burgers though. (he, he) See ya, Gary

DAMN IT! Last year for the meet at State Fair Park (next year at Lancaster Events Center), and they had a barnbuster turnout? I have had an indoor space in Ag Hall since 1980 and was its promotions manager for many years, and this year I had to miss it so my wife and I could get our picture taken with Nebraska U. AD Tom Osborne in Topeka last night! More pictures please!

We must travel in different circles Paul. We'll meet up someday. Not a bad swapmeet.Didn't spend much, got a killer deal on cutoff wheels, some adapters to mount cordoba wheels to chevy axels and a gasoline fill neck for the Hoodlum.Still,I think someone owes us all a grilled hamburger.

wish there were some good swop meats out in vegas

  25. Well Paul, you get an A+ for multi tasking. I really appreciate seeing the parts, people and fairgrounds. My wife is in shock over the expansion. All she could talk about is "where are they going to hold the State Fair?"
I didn't recognize anyone except Malcom. Guess most of my old Lincoln Area Street Rod Club buddies are too old to be out in the rain & cold.
It looks like they are still hauling tin off the farms. There's enough swirled away out there to last for many more years.

****, I never can find you at any event. WTH? I looked for you too. Must have been hiding out with Rob Lee who I also did not see.

Rich, tell your wife the new fairgrounds is being built way out west in Grand Island. The swap meet is moving to east edge of Lincoln.

Thanks for the photos, Paul! It was good to see you again. A bunch of other guys stopped by and chatted throughout the morning and that certainly made the day more enjoyable! I did sell a few things and froze my *** off - I think it took the whole hour drive home to thaw out!

Now, those hamburgers that someone volunteered me for.... I never even got one, myself! :) ...then there were guys asking for pancakes... what a bunch of Turds! :D I see one of those turds said he must hang in a different 'circle' than you - well, I think he's just been circling the bowl! ;)

I saw guys from, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and South Dakota, but missed a few that were roaming around there --- still a great day, though!

    Nick,

I saw your display, but didn't see you, or any other HAMB's for that matter. Missed Paul, He must have been on the other end of the field taking pictures:D

I didn't buy anything, but did spend quite a bit of time talking with that fellow with the 53 olds on the trailer. I still might contact him and buy it. He shot me a good price, and would even deliver it.

Did I mention it was COLD:(. So I spent my time going back and forth to the big building to warm up, get coffee and warm up.;) But still it wasn't as bad weather there this year as it has been in the past.

There was more old tin this year I thought than in the past, mixed in with the usual new stuff.

    Anyway,

    later,
