I dont see how cars can sit that long...They are definetly sun beat, but still solid. If there was a yard here like that, most of those cars would be snagged up long ago...Texas,Arizona, and left coast, in general...have more old cars sitting, than some states have on the road...

Old Cookie finally selling, huh? My dad has lived about 2 miles from that guy for 25+ years, and while he would let us walk around and liked to talk to us, he would never sell us any cars. He used to have a Packard Clipper up front that I was always lusting after.....I'll have to send dad out to look....

Slim, any idea if that 1917 Maxwell will be for sale or parted out? I'm still dreaming that after scouting down 8 rear ends and having everyone destroyed internally that there is one more usable one on this planet!

I remember cruisin' through Kookie's place a few years back after the New Braunfels swap meet. He was trying to sell a 66/67 Dodge Charger that was totally complete then. We struck up a conversation and headed back to his place to check out his 'collection'.

The Imperial wasn't there then, otherwise it would have come home with me for sure! However, there was a little bit of everything else there. I remember him telling me that nothing really was for sale, however, if I had any of those old tin or porcelain signs laying around, that he would trade me just about anything for em. LOVED those old signs!

Hey Tony, would he happen to be parting with any of those grills/air cleaners/lenses/etc. that are in the building right in the center of the yard (his warehouse of shiney stuff)? Also, how much is he asking on the Imperial? May just have to make a ride out this weekend and bring some of my vintage signage with me! :D

They are still there, He is finally trying to sell off cars and other parts, so If you want something his son is handling everything for him. I am helping him buy putting the word out. I have some pictures to take for a couple guys that requested them and Have not been over there, been real busy at work, plus the rain did not help. I will get the pictures as requested this next week. as to swapping for the signs, thats something new to me. I just hope that he can sale off some of these old cars to someone that will enjoy them and give them new life. There are parts laying all over the place. I have had requested for tours and I said that I will set it up. to the guys that requested a tour, if it does not rain next week, which we do need here in S. texas, i can set it up for Saturday. I will let y'all know.
    Thank You

Kookie's a good guy. The first time I pulled up to his place he was doing his evening exercise walk around the yard. He just walked right past me and wouldn't stop to talk. So I jumped out of the truck and walked next to him to find out if he had the parst we were looking for. He told us he was about to lock up and head out for the night, but to come back the next day. We went back a week later and scored a nice pair of doors for my buddies '59 Apache, and we sat around and shot the shit with him and his friends for a while. I haven't been back out there since, but I might run over there on my lunch break one of these days to see what he's got left.

the white and orange limo is very TU friendly. The owner told me that LBJ road in it.
There is another 60's caddy at the lot, with a motor in it.

I just left from visiting with Kookie. He told me to let anyone that is interested that he is in a selling mood. Let me know the car you are interested in and I will take it to him and get a better price then what we had previously.
He is ready to deal now.
    Thanks y'all

I am surprised the cars are so rusty! It isin Texas right?Or is it the case that it is near the gulf and the salt air is causing the massive corrosion?

Hey gearhead57, yes at one time he was planning to fix them up, now he wants to move them out. It is amazing how time can change ones plans.

Philo426, no the yard is in south central texas and the rust is from sitting out all these years, but don't let the rust fool ya, the metal is still in good shape below the top layer of rust or patena, not like the rust from up north.
