Dave Bell was probably my earliest influence at an impressionable age. I would mention Cris Frogget but he might think I like him ;). Seriously though he's a great artist and might be even better if he was ever sober.

    Weesner and Williams.

Sounds like a firm of lawyers!

  3. I have a collection of 12 Weezner prints, framed up nicely and hanging on the walls in the house. I also have a few things from Richard Hughes that i like very much. Also a few Lance Storcheck (sp) poster prints that blow me away.

My favorite artist is Tom Fritz, does he qualify as 'culture artist'? I dont now enough about art to debate it. TRJ did a great article about him and I have met him in person (GNRS).
Awesome guy to talk with and from my perspective, a very high quality and talented Artist. I wish I could afford more of his stuff....absolutly inspiring pieces in his collection.

So much love! I am a lucky guy. It's funny I just met **** last Saturday, and he was a super cool guy and said he liked my work, I kind of didn't expect him to! It was surprising. I came to appreciate his work a lot more after staying at Martin's (Outre Gallery) modern style house in Melbourne that's practically a **** museum. Greatest hits on every wall!

The level of work in the our arena lately has definitely spooked me out of complacency, some guys are just getting scary good. It's pushing me to try harder and to try to be more innovative. Robert Williams once said to me about Thomas Kinkaide "That guy's right out there on the ragged edge of his ability." That cracked me up, but that's how I feel I am sometimes.

Chris Frogget... thanks jex-h-r! Weezner and Frogget... that's what I'm in tune with... trying to get some prints for christmas... lots of good talent here on the HAMB...

  6. Weez if you could just figure out how to market yourself like Thomas Kinkaide you could rule the world and everybody for once would have a cool Weez painting over their fireplace instead of a picture of Placerville at Christmastime...I think my Mom has spent my inheritance on every possible Kinkaide knick knack

I guess I never explained why I love Weesner so much. I guess it comes from the fact that his style is unmistakable. From his choice of landscape to his Trademarked style of women he has carved is own path is a community that seems to be homogeneous as a whole. The way that his cars are painted and envisioned are the way that I would like to see the in person. He stretches and tweaks the proportions almost to the point of going across the line....but he never step over. You will always know what the subject is intended to be and often ask when you see the same model car in person "Damn, why does that not look as cool as a Weesner car?" I know, I personally would love to have even just the proportion of the tires & wheels that he has on his paintings on my own cars.

Damn you Weesner!!! You make them look even cooler then they actually are!

There's just too damned many great Kulture artists to pinpoint my favorite. Hell, I like em all just because they influence me and make me work harder at my art. Weez, Norwell, Franco, Williams, Zombie, Sonny, Roth all top the list but like I say, there are so many great artists out there and I dig em all. I can't pick an absolute favorite.

God, I forgot about Zombie. I think that he is another one that has a unmistakable style. Definitely one of the best concept artists. I would take one of each of his concepts.

I gotta agree. If I had to choose one, I'd say Weezner because his art depicts the world the way I'd like it to be.

Man, How is a guy supposed to choose when ther are so many great one out there. A few of mine would be Zombie as we are building two cars based off of his art on black. Weesner, Jeff Norwell and who could forget one of the original traditional artists George Trosley and the Cartoons magazine.

yea, i tried to find a good sample image to post here but since his site is all Flash based I couldn't. I've got 2 of his prints in my hall I picked up at VLV 2 years ago: Chimp gets pinched and Tiki gets pinched.

Man there's lots of freak'n talent out there...

Steve Stanford is probaly the artist who has influenced me more then anyone. He is one of my favorites. Mainly his keen eye for 60's customs and the high level execution of his artwork kept bringing me back to him. The best article I've seen on Steve Stanford is in The Rodder's Journal issue #2.

He pinstriped the cover of Kustom Kulture which rocks if you haven't read it. I'm sure some of you lucky *******s even got to go to the show.
