The Dead End Cruisers and Mugrosos Car Clubs would like to invite you to the 1st Annual Battle Born Showdown in Virginia City, Nevada this Memorial Day Weekend. It is show for traditional hotrods, customs, motorcycles and the people who build and drive/ride them.

The show will start with a kick-off party on Friday night at the Washoe Club (walking distance from the hotel) with live bands and good drinks. The actual show will start Saturday morning. There will be more bands playing throughout the day as well as a pin-up contest and raffle Saturday afternoon with cool prizes like a full pinstripe job for your car or bike and a set of finished Harley tins from No-Coast Customs! Lastly, the show will finish up with the infamous Chop Tops playing around 6pm. When the Chop Tops wrap it up, the after-party will be held back at the Washoe Club.

The entry fees are $20 for cars and $10 for bikes but the show is free for spectators. The Ramada in Virginia City is offering an event rate of $79 per night with the group code: CGMHRC. Call 888-859-4119 or 775-847-4484 for reservations and be sure to give them the group code or you'll pay through the nose.

For those who have never heard of Virginia City, it is a mining town from the 1800's that was the richest silver strike ever but now it's sort of a ghost town. For those who like to cruise, VC has a long main drag with street parking on both sides. Each side of the main drag has wide, covered board walks lined buildings from the 1800's that have been converted to bars, souvenir shops, bars, candy stores, bars, museums and bars. If none of that sounds appealing, Reno is about 30 minutes away with all the gambling, 24-hour liquor sales and legal prostitution you can stand.

If you drive your car Northern Nevada is the place to do it! We've all driven to Paso for years and loved it, although they didn't care much for us. There are lots of things to do here. Easy 1 day tour Virginia City, Dayton, Carson City, Genoa, Lake Tahoe, Reno, back to VC! This could be the first year of a great new show or just a chance to hang out with some great rodders in a really rod friendly area.

I want to see pictures of all the cars that get high-centered at Union or Taylor and C Street.

I heard this is going to be a good show. A good alternative to Santa Maria.

Something different to do for a change. May not stay the night but I think I'll head up for the day and then come back down to Sac for Swingtime at the Towe.

  15. FYI- I called the Ramada in Virginia City, NV tonight to book my room for Saturday and Sunday night and the gal said the event block with the cheaper rate was filled. I got the last room available for Saturday and now the hotel is completely booked for Saturday night. If you still need a room check out http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g46010-Virginia_City_Nevada-Hotels.html

Thank God!! ...someone came up with an alternative to Santa Maria. Virginia City is a bitchin' place to have a car show!! I hope this catches on.

  17. Are you going to the Virginia City show? We are heading out early Saturday morning for Virginia City cause we want to see The Chop Tops, Cash'd Out (amazing Johnny Cash cover band) and Deke Dickerson at the Blank Club in San Jose Friday before.

So where were you guys in the early 1990's? I lived in Reno during that time and was trying to get some traditional guys fired up.
We did re-start the "Silhouettes" CC of Trucky Meadows with the blessing of a charter member. We now have 40 plus members thru-out the US and a couple in Australia.
If I were anywhere near VC I'd for sure attend, you guys have a great time and take lots of pictures to post on the H.A.M.B.

  19. Back to the top. I'll take plenty of pics and post them for you guys.

I'll also be there armed with cameras and will post pix and video.

  21. How's the weather looking for this weekend? The only time I've ever been to VC was in the winter and it was snowing and I just about broke my ass slipping on the ice covered boardwalk -- and no, I don't think getting hammered at the Saloon had anything to do with my spill. I imagine this time of year, VC is pretty toasty!

For those who haven't been there, go if you can. There's a ton of history in the area. Spend a few days to see VC, Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Reno. Attached are a couple of photos I took in 2005. Last one's Lake Tahoe. Sure wish I could be ther for the show. It should be a good time. Heck, Mark Twain worked for the newspaper in Virginia City and Carson City was on the Pony Express route. Keep an eye out for wild Mustangs (the 4 legged kind).

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Weather should be mid-80's. Super nice!
