Hi guys, My name is Marty and I am a vintage car addict. I don't own a rod, but my main interest in cars for well over 40 years has been vintage race cars, 30s to 70s and I build model racers (drag, jalopies, modifieds, short track stockers) in 1/25 to 1/8 scale. You have a really cool, informative site that I have lurked around for a while now, borrowing some excellent reference for my build library. So I decided it was time to join. One of the current projects I have going is a 1/8 scale 5 window deuce jalopy, circa 1960. Well, I guess that's it for now.
Welcome from colorado. On sundays they have a modeling thread to show your projects on. And they sound really cool ...ghost
Welcome. Does the 59 in your tag mean your age or when you graduated high school. That was the year I graduated in that year. Back then I was into model cars and then started to paint them in Candy Colors with my air brush. That led to learning how to paint once I started at my Uncles body shop as a painters helper. Within one month working there I graduated to "cleaning the primer guns". I eventually learned lacquer spraying and correct application methods. My flame painting really came on strong after that. Still paint some now and then. Working on 6 Fender Stratocaster guitars that match "The California Kid" which I flamed back in 1973.
Welcome to you too. The 59 is my age. I graduated high school in '68 and went into the Navy right after that. But not before I had a fill of drag races and Roth models and art. I was a year late in meeting Big Daddy, he died before I got the chance. He was my idol in the mid-sixties and he still is/was the man!!........
