    Hey Boys and Girls...

There is no question the gas tank on my '60 Ford needs to be boiled. My question is, whats the deal with sealing? Does it have to be done or is it something else for me to buy?

    Thanks!

I have had several dealings with old gas tanks and have had good luck with local radiator shops cleaning and resealing them for me.. I would definately reseal the tank.. This will save you trouble later,,

I seal all the tanks on my projects, and customers cars. It saves alot of h***el down the road. I've got a friend who runs a great radiator shop, take all mine to him. I'd do it.

Either seal or buy a new one. You'll save yourself the headache in the long run.

Wow, it's like we've all owned the same car.

Seal that tank up! If you don't, when it bites, it bites hard.

  7. What they said. I boiled two, didn't seal either. Learned the hard way how to change a LOT of fuel filters before I re-removed and sealed both. No problems at all afterward.

Seal it. Autobody shop normally have some good stuff to use. Stay away from the cheap stuff that most auto parts stores sell. It can react with some of the fuels and turn into a sludge.

Theres a product made by Wurth called Rust Guard I did my model a tank with in 05' and havn't had a problem. I think its around $50 a quart and it'll do a tank.
