in the 70s, kiwi kids had hotrod cards to collect that came with weetbix (breakfast cereal). there was two series of these cards, i only have 1 of the first series, but have two albuns from second series. one album full and one half full. did any other countries do hotrod cards?
I have/had MONKEES collector cars that included alot of the car and the stinr-ray bikes;;;;;;;somewhere I have some of funny cars and pro=stock from about 1970
cool, can we see em? meatball, that monkey wagon was hardcase. hot rod willie, cool momento of your car. ozi rob, i bet theres a lot have been lost over the years.
I work at sanitarium(weetbix) I will ask around at work on monday may even be able to get some file pics. I know they have other old archived packets and such.
I had to do a homework project on transportation and glued some of those to a piece of cardboard, I got an E or F.
Unclechop As a kid i would get the cards from the tip at Bonnells bay weet bix got chucked out there all the time.

Wow those bring back some memories Kev, looks like they're all from Autorama at Canterbury Court 1969 or 70. I'd completely forgotten about the Vodka and Orange mouse minor. I see the Holtang lurking in several shots, a local wire wheel guy still has it but I don't think it's turned a wheel under it's own steam in years. Rumor had that it was built in 2 weeks before the show, lots of cardboard and bog and it sure looks rumply in some of those shots.
unclechop -wow, thats cool, did you know about em? ehdubya -you shuda got an A. and cool to hear some info on holtang. billet proof -nothin like freebies when your a kid. we uesd to find hotrod kitset parts and as we couldnt afford the real thing, finding parts was like finding gold. kiwi kev -awesome, i was thinkin yourd have the first series. maybe unclechop could help you get the last 3? thanks for sharing, guys.
forgot to mention about the boxes the weetbix cards from second series came in. they had 1 whole side taken up with a pic of rods that werent on cards. heres a couple.
Seems like back in the early to mid 60's there where Rod and Custom bubble gum trading cards too. Like baseball cards but with cars. I wasn't into cars real big then. Not foar a couple of years.
I had no idea they existed! I will see how they go-being from NZ they may not have records here in OZ. Fingers crossed.
An email I recieved back. Hi Clint <O></O> Yes, we have all twelve cards in the first series. If you could let me know which card numbers he wants, we would be happy to scan them and send them to you.<O></O> <O></O> Im not too sure about series 2 and 3. Could you find out the exact names of those series?<O></O> <O></O> Regards,<O></O> SHF Archives, Cooranbong<O></O>
i didnt know there was a third series. second one is called new zealand rod and custom cars. good work, unclechop.

Wow, those bring back some memories. I had the whole collection from the late 70s set. My favourite at the time was Old Gold. Wish I still had them! Interesting to note, the wheelstanding Shadwick Bros Jeep is for sale at the moment: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Specialist-cars/Hot-rods/auction-207574014.htm
