The sheetmetal is all back on and so to answer your question the Jag IFS front fits perfectly for a Merc, no need to modify the sheetmetal at all. The Jag front fits perfectly both chassis wise and sheetmetal wise.

  3. That's Adrians from Melbourne, was a 4 door converted into a 2 door....awesome workmanship, top class.

Slight update, car starting to look as it should, today spent repairing rust in drivers door, will be back on by tomorrow, and hopefully a photo outside.....just need those seat belts and its ready for the engineer to visit, and rego:D

As per what Grant said, as we decided there was enough work to deal with as it was, without wanting to redo the dash and pedals etc, plus there's just something special about the 50 dash, few and far between in oz as most convert them, and often do a really bad job of what deserves to be beatiful feature that they are.

If its a problem, we'll change it next winter....;):D

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)

  4. Have you got any pics of the Jag front graft.
I fitted a whole Jag front subframe to mine.

Just an update for all those interested,

As of Friday the beast is now on the road! Passed engineering & rego no probs. Made the trip to day of the drags easily with only minor teething issues.

Shall get some updated pics up shortly,

    Thanks,
    Grant

    Thanks Guys, and thanks Troy,

FYI the Hambster is Drewfus's which finally got a decent run on Saturday.

Regards the rims, there are still a lot of small things to tidy up and finish on the Merc, but I've got the next few years to sort them out. As Troy mentioned new chromies were purchased on the day so the Jag rims are gone and the new matching chromies are on.

I'm pretty pleased with the stance, and the overall look, she's still a bit rough but it's just the character of the beast.

Hopefully Drewfus will add some photo's from cruising down the highway some time shortly.

  13. rims are on...

sorry for the shakey photo's, but was busy doing more than one thing at once, so it was luck of the draw...;):D

Grant I just now saw this post for the first time!!! WOW-WOW-WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You Guys have really gave that car the a first class makeover. Ill bet it rides great.
Ive been waiting to see or hear of something. Im sure You will be cruising the Merc now for years to come. BRAVO. Hats off to You DREWFUS great job. You Guys have been VERY busy to complete all that work in this amount of time. I do miss that car even in the state it was in. We drove that car all over 4 states year round. And just to let everyone know I didnt try to hide anything about the car. Grant and I talked many times over the phone,E Mail and letters. He knew He would be dealing with aussie laws and engineering issues. He has gone way beyond what We here in the states take for granted in fulfilling a dream of owning a Hotrod or custom. Remember We took that car from a field in Montana and in 13 days were driving it. Then chopped it in 4 days and drove it for 3 years.
Again congrats on a great job now DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF IT.

Good on ya mate. Getting it all done up and ready for engineering is quite a big job and you guys pulled it off big time. Looks real good.

    Thanks Feder,

The merc has come together nicely, you're right it did get a much larger makeover than I'd planned given our discussions, but I decided if we were going to change things for Aussie standards then I might as well do a good job of it.

It's now on the road so as you say, time to DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF IT!

And thanks for the beginnings of a what is now an awesome ride, albeit with plenty more work left to do.
