would have to mix something in the gas so it wont p*** as gas. i.e.
unapproved gas, nitrous, octane booster, etc...

What are you talking about? Spend the money, time, and effort THEN figure out if we can race it legally? Of course the rule book was consulted for many hours before even a rivet was purchased for this project.

  7. I'd like to borrow that thing and put a big ole' flathead in it and see what it will do :D Hope to someday get to the salt with something fun . . .

I would think that if we choose to run in Fuel cl***, all we have to do is file a cl*** change and not seal the gas tank.

    Not true!
The SCTA seals the "gas" tank during a record attempt.
If you should not have it sealed you "must" be running fuel.
As long as you've entered the correct cl*** before hand. :)

The unsealed tank would be by defalt "unapproved gasoline".

Finally gettin a chance to update the progress. Not alot of big chages this week. Most of time has been spent fitting panels and installing dzus tabs. Cowl is about 80% complete. Still have not finished nose completely. All that is left is fabbing the rear portion of engine cover/headrest fairing and the chute pack surrounds (dual chutes). Should wrap it up by end of next weekend.

Stopped by yesterday to see how REDTOP and Hans are doing on the body. A bit of progress as the nose was fitted to the body, panels getting quarter-turn fasteners, and the engine cover/tonneau was getting fitted.

Unfortunately, the parachutes and launchers haven't shown up yet, so there's still work to do. vic

UPDATE. Chute launchers are mounted, decklid is made as well as windshield, and many small things that don't show up in pics. All the fairings for the rear portion of the body are made but still need to be fitted. Body stuff should be wrapped up Tuesday aside from some metal finishing that will be completed before car runs. Then its off to another shop to get all the mechanicals taken care of.

Since my last reply we have been super busy. The car was finished in time for a trip to Maxton in June for a review by tech inspectors. Then it was back to the shop for final ***embly for our trip to Bonneville. The car performed great. We upped the d/gas rear engine modified roadster record from 208mph to 231mph and the d/fuel record from 202mph to 235mph and the driver got in the 200mph club. It was a tremendous undertaking considering the car was still on paper in Jan. '09. The first ch***is tube was laid in early Feb. and the car qualified for its first record at Bonneville 6 months later, to the day. Thanks to the great effort and dedication by a the handful of guys who made this project reality. It was a full time job for the guy in charge of the build and the other 2 guys were part timers along with the various people who did their individual parts and pieces (painter, motor, trans., etc.). Now, time to enjoy a break before I dig into the next project, a kick*** A sedan that Jeem has been designing. Can't wait to see it in real life.
