cool pics. the last time I used black and white film, it took an act of Congress and a loan to get the film developed. Glad to know you can still get it developed cheap and easy.

If you take a roll of Tri-X or some other kind of real B&W film in for processing it's still going to cost a bundle because it's considered to be "custom" processing. The mini-labs shouldn't even accept it if it's true B&W film.

What you're looking for if you're film shopping is B&W with C41 processing. Kodak at one time made both professional and "street" grades of this film, but I don't know if that's still the case.If you don't find it at the big retailers you may have to look for it at a real camera store.

C41 is the chemistry and processing used for developing color negative film. But C41 B&W is specially formulated to produce a B&W print using color processing and printing equipment. So now any mini-lab can produce reasonable B&W prints at a reasonable price and probably in one hour.

Wow old bone you really know how to put two and two together!

  7. You might want to try experimenting with that cam a little. Try bracketing your pic's an f stop either way and see how is comes out. I always liked Ilsford B&W film. It has great saturation.

"" a digital camera is a tool, like a hammer.

a film camera is a tool, like a paint brush.

If you'd spent a lot of years shooting film, and then essentially had a gun held to your head while being forced to convert to digital, it might make a bit more sense to you.

Now see if you can make any sense of this:

"Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana.":D

I understood what you were getting at. Anyone can pick up a digital camera and "point and shoot" or hammer out some pictures. On the other hand shooting on film requires a little more finess and thought.

Everyone can take a deep breath, noone is holding guns to anyones head,....old Barneys got his round in his pocket anyway.
