I'm about to bring home a 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville(1st Cadillac)and I want to learn as much about them from people who have had them and worked on them personally.Basically tell me your stories of the ins and outs of these awesome cars.anything you can offer and advise me on will be greatly appreciated. This one is a really good example that only needs floors and some other rust repair in the trunk around the latch. Its been sitting a long while covered and the owner oiled the motor when He parked it.So hopefully the road ahead won't be to rough.Anyway you look at it I'm totally excited and up for whatever challenge lies ahead .Thanks
well im building one now so ask away with questions....ive gone threw a few of these cars so i can most likley help you out...................john
Thanks John.Have you had to replace the floor pans?wheres a good place to find them.who are you using for parts?will be messing with the car a little more this week at my buddies place but wont have it home until end of April.
Get your floor pans from cl***ic fabrication. They make top notch patch panels. Their rockers fit perfectly. http://www.cl***icfabrication.com/ Be prepared if you need any small parts because there is something missing it is a 59 Cadillac so every thing is expensive.
thanks guys.am looking into it.so far im missing the grill piece with the bullets behind the bar,a couple of running lights, headlamp bezels, other wise exterior very there and complete.just cleaned it up a little today where its been sitting to get a better look and no more disapointments since the floor pan discovery
brian26 youre telling me.im still in shock I think.this has been a dream car for me for probaly twenty years.the fins are perfect too.thanks
Wow, let me tell you I've owned several of these and they are such a pain to work on! Parts are a bear to find and when you do be prepared to pay!! You should just sell this thing to me and save all the headaches!! On a serious note, the floor pans and trunk are not that complicated and I would recommend fabing them yourself if you have reasonably adequate skills. I've done several floors for these and they are too simple to justify spending $$ for them. Also I have a lot of parts for these, look me up when you get to that point and I'll see what I can do for you.
cirilian thanks for the info and I will definately stay in touch and hit you up for parts in the near future.me and the guy just need to get past the Lonestar Roundup before we pull that thing out of his side yard.
