I have a 63 comet convertible s22. What do you think is the widest rim I could throw on my rocket? I came across some 13X7's. Do you think this is too big? I know the rear spacing might be an issue. Any advice would help, thanks! (Too big meaning width, will I have to roll the lip of my fender.)
I put these on my 63 custom model and they were a very snug fit. a little too much backspace, so I would think to run a 7" wide the backspace would have to be perfect. http://store.summitracing.com/partd...4294755962+400230+4294795078+115&autoview=sku
Why go with 13's? I would put 15 or 16s on it. I run 15 in the front and 16 on the rear on my 63 falcons, and they look great.
I like the 13's/14's wheel rake personally. Small center 14's will fit the same poverty/baby moon hubcaps as 13's so they make a nice set. All the factory stuff is pretty skinny (like 4.5 wide) though.
i have 6 inch deep dish steelies on the rear of my falcon they are ****** tight squeeze especially as low as my car is but with the right offset you can get 7's in there. Just bear in mind that if your car is really low with leaf springs and wide rims that you need 2 jacks if you need to change a tyre. One to jack up the car and a bottle jack between the spring and the body to get enough clearance to get the wheel in and out
My 63's ride height is stock and the rim is a 13x7. I am going to see what I can do today, Any suggestions on tire size? I have a feeling I am gonna have to make some mods to make it work. Thanks for all your input
I have 6 inch wide wheels. I also use a Currie rear end that is narrowed 1 inch narrower than the stock 8 inch rear.
From my experience 205's will just squeeze in, but i run 185/70r 13 but im sure you could go to a taller tyre because yours is stock height. Here is a picture of my falcon for reference.
Nice ride brah, I am going to try the rims this weekend (minus the rubber) and see if i can swing it. Thanks for everyones help! I will let you know the outcome.
Be sure to check clearance throughout the suspension travel. Fully unloaded my front tires rub the upper a-arms slightly, but as the angle changes I have plenty of clearance at ride height.
Thanks again for everyones help, I tried them, and they were WAY to wide, the offset was wicked. Sooo its a no go.
