    my names elton and i bought my first old car a few weeks ago and ive been doin a little work on it, money is the problem with me or else id have it at least running by now. its 1950 plymouth special deluxe and the motor is good and the body is in almost perfect condition and im gonna be posting the pictures of it pretty soon.

  5. I'm a Ford guy but I do like the old Mayflowers a lot. The first Southern 500 race at Darlington SC in 1950 was won by a '50 Plymouth. Guy I knew in college at Jacksonville AL in the early '70s was from New Jersey and drove a '49 Plymouth the whole time he was in school at Jacksonville. He gave $75 for the car which had been sitting a couple of years (this was in 1970). Put a new set of tires on it and put in a new battery, changed the oil, and drove the thing from NJ to AL without a minute's trouble, he was still driving it when I graduated in '73. That old Mayflower had surface rust on it and needed a paint job, and the seats were getting a little ragged, but it ran great.
