Anyone on here do this to their A? Tudor?
Im looking at slicing the top of the well and kicking it in so it will be straight up and down..so I can get more wheel clearence.

The Tudor's wells slope outward as they meet where the fenders are bolted on..if you are wanting to run some meats in the back you are kinda limited

Just so you know this is on a full fender Rod

thanks for your input..and from those that have done this..any pictures before you put the fenders back on?

    BTW i did a search..found nothing

    ThanksVRF

let me look a bit- When we helped Reggie finish the Little Jewel, I did exactly what You are talking about- and what made it fun is that the car was already painted. I am pretty sure it's in my threads somewhere.

Try these on for size. The inners were pretty injured, so I took the easy route and replaced them with a sheet of 18 gauge. then I started with a 2 inch strip at the top, and after I droppped it straight to the subrail, then trimmed off the "leftovers"- pretty straight forward.

Thanks you Guys thats what im looking to do..I guess I could find an alternate way to bolt the top edge of the fender back on..maybe even bend the tabs up a bit and bolt them on to the bottom edge of the new tub..so *****in has the stuff?

isnt Bear Metal Kustoms the vendor on here for that stuff?..

look closer on the link- I left the first inch or so of the original fenderwell intact- so the studs are still there.

I figure that if You are going to have a tire rub issue there, You have other problems. the primary issue is typically the sidewall rubbing on the inner fenderwell- no where near the top of the fender.

Thanks LUX..i saw what you did there..those were "*****in" tubs right? or you made those?

nice job I think i want a bit wider tire than most do on full fender A's so this is where i need to go..I was just going to cut and kick the original wells in and put a pie cut sheet metal piece in there to close the gap up,..but i like the clean flat shape of those wells better.

I did it like you mentioned. Used the original wheelwell sliced it just below the fender studs, pushed it in and added a piece.

probably the quickest and most inexpensive way to get it done..probably will be my first attempt..if it dont like it I can always cut them out and do it with flat sheet or buy the *****in wells..as it is they will not be seen behind my tires,,But i will not do a hack job.

Greetings! All through 2001 "Street Rodder" magazine showed the buildup of the "Wingfoot Express" model "A" , one of the monthly articles featured the modifications you are planning to the rear wheel-wells, it too is a full-fendered car, hope this helps, Mike

Not that difficult, just got to have your fenders ready and get rid of that turned down edge that the originals have. Screw the bolts up into the new spacer piece you install.
take your time probably want your running boards on to get new levels right.
Works a treat when done and gives your the option to go lower on the rear end.

You will lose a little rear window wind down but that is a no big deal.
This is also a good time to do a rear ch***is kick up if you have not already done that yet.

  16. BTW, those tubs work great....which is why we had that done on the jewel. The only issue is that the rear window will not roll all the way down. The reason ford slanted the wheel well was for space to allow the rear window to roll down. But given its a hot rod, who cares.....looks over creature comfort.

I did it to mine. I've done it on several cars and I always cut up a trailer fender and use the nice radiused edge for the filler piece.

    oooh..thanks bro..killer idea, and cheap..
    i like cheap.

the tubs look nice, but they are like 280 a pair..and no ones going to see them anyways on a full fender rod..

what was the dimension on the trailer fender?(rad. or dia.) was it a good fit for the radius? or did you have to pie cut it in places to shrink it or open it up some?

Just get a fender for a 15" wheel. There are only like 3 sizes sold for automotive size trailers. I cut the opening to match the fender radius. I did not just cut the biggest opening I could out of the stock inner fender well. The tire doesn't and couldn't use all the space anyway. Once the fender is on and rear seat installed you can't see any of it. It is sort of visible in this pic. You only need about 120* of the trailer fender. Let me know if you need a better pic for a visual.
