We learned of this site from the extraordinarily well-produced and effective ad in February's "The Rodder's Journal". (Kudos to those responsible!) As I browsed here, countless hours of entertainment and education followed. So many of you are such fine craftsmen! And innovators; there is much that I will learn from you. I'd often wished I had been a kid in California in hot rodding's early days. It looks like that same spirit and ingenuity are alive here. Truelove and I are belatedly tackling our '41 Ford 1/2 ton. It has owned us since 1968. Served us until it was parked (abandoned?) in '80 when our careers took too much of our time. It is stock except for the flathead we'd raced in a circle track Sportsman. All new brightwork has been purchased. We intend it to look stock (from a distance) except for rake and '34 front bumper. Power will switch to a 5.0 HO. Thanks for having us. We're near Amarillo, Texas.
Welcome to the coolest place. I had a sign shop in Amarillo in the 80's and did the signs at the asphalt oval race track for a few years. The Texas panhandle winds and temperatures were Hell on an outdoor signpainter and slowest drying 1-shot paint ever!
A sincere thanks to all of you for the welcome! No one so friendly as 'car people'. We'll post pics of the '41 after we go the shop again. Fly'n Kolorz, small world, isn't it? We were no longer in racing when you did lettering here. You were kind to not add that before the paint dried, it was littered with dust. A local car painter calls that the 'Texas texture'. I hope the weather there is more agreeable to your craft.
