Where Do I Find This Hemi Distributor Cap

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 345 DeSoto, Mar 14, 2009.

  1. I was cruising through the Hemi Tech section and spotted this photo. Notice the distributor cap. Anybody got any idea where to score one of these? They should be the same for all the Hemis...

I've never seen one like that for the hemis. I wonder if it may be an aftermarket brand or maybe even a stock cap for a not so famous brand? Hard to see in the pick but is it a Chrysler brand distributor?

    Nope working now for me.

  11. AL - From the color of the Tag, and the shape of the distributor, it sure LOOKS like Mopar.

Z.DIDDY - What was the firing order on the 42-46 Flat Heads?

The distributor looks like it might be a Mallory from the tag on the side.

  13. If it IS a Mallory, I wonder if the cap would swap onto the Hemi distributor?...

Some of the Spalding and Mallory distributors use the Ford V8 cap......

I doubt it but you can probably find that model of distributor for your engine if you do some hunting.

I've owned 8 stock Desoto Hemi's, the distributer looks original, none of them had a cap like that, looks like a flat head Ford, it's not snapped down in the picture. Would it work, who knows?
