Names Mike. I've been lookin at this site for along time now. Got thrown over here from the Jockey journal once and just kept coming back to check stuff out. I don't have a car so I'm kinda a poser. My bike is/was my only transportation but its ripped apart right now so I'm actually grounded! Ive been lookin to buy a econoline truck or van but I'm not very knowledgeable about them. Just know Ive seen a few around here and I love em. So hopefully soon I can raise some funds to get into something. Any suggestions on years or model would be handy. Thanks again love the site!
Welcome Mike, If your going for an early Econoline, try for 65 or newer as they came with the 240 inch six and heavy rear end. Makes it easier if you upgrade. The suspension could also be more heavy duty. Check the thread on this site as there is a LOT of info on them.
Thanks for the welcome and the suggestions. I'm kinda car stupid being a bike guy but I'm gonna learn. I'm gonna do my research and when I finish my shovel I'm gonna sell some stuff and hopefully have enough for a rough econoline.
Ok I went lookin for a van or a truck but ran into this 50 wayfarer biz coupe while lookin for a pickup. I picked it up Saturday and its runnin, needs some front brake work some wheels and tires (4 different tires, 3 different wheels) But overall I think its gonna be a good first car for me. Any thoughts? Not super straight but its decent, and no rust. I'm just going to get some tires and a matching set of wheels work the front brakes and drive?
Thanks, I like it because nobody else does! Well few anyways. Only problem I guess is that there is not 25 of em at my local junk yard like if I bought ford. Love them fords but I wanted something different even if it isn't the prettiest. One positive is my lady loves it which means its easy to spend money on it, guess she likes slightly unusual, borderline ugly things or she wouldn't be shacked up with me!
Gettin the Mrs. on board is always the hard part but if she is you are already ahead. It will be cool because it is different. It is always good to see something a little out of the ordinary.
Here's a leee--eeetle inspiration for ya...not exactly the same year, but it's a 3 window...and a Mopar...with a Chrysler engine, a chopped top and whitewalls...no, it's not mine...!!! BTW, welcome from Aurora...and bring that Mopar to the "Carnage on Larimer" on September 12th... R-
I'll be at carnage on larimer for sure. I live on walnut so its gonna be a real short drive. probably a longer drive than a walk. But I'm trying to be rolling by that date for sure. Thanks for the pics.
