Well I had a mini barn find today. Went over to my neighbor's dad's barn today to check out some lawnmower stuff and he mentioned some car parts he had up on the second floor of the barn, lots of old hubcaps, old chrome and random engine parts. I noticed a pile of seats over in the corner, so I make my way over and see a pair of red buckets that caught my eye. I say "Are those 64 thunderbird buckets!?" he's like "well ya, I had a 64 t-bird in the late 70's into the 80's and the first thing I did was pull those seats out and changed them with some power seats." Im like "uhh what are you doing with these?" he says "well I guess if you don't take them I'm throwing them out." So I got them, totally free, saved from garbage just at the right time. I had to clean off almost 30 years of bird/ra****/rat **** and a pile of barn dust, but they arent bad considering the situation! There's more stuff I'm gonna go back for, all stuff he's throwing out, more bucket seats, bench seats, mostly everything its from the 60's. Now I have an interior color!
Nice score! I had to remove a set of buckets from a junked Corvair a couple of weeks ago. I had to strip them. Then POR 15 them. Now they need to go to the upholstery shop. Those are nice seats. Nice steering wheel too!
Sweet. Nice seats. I have the red 64 T-bird rubber floor mats that go with your seats, but I'm using them in my Galaxie. The other day I noticed a big pile of wide tires and rims piled next to a farm garage. I'm waiting for the weekend so I can get back and see what they have and if they wanna sell 'em. Could be sprint car or dirt track wheels, or old mags. It's impossible to tell from the street. For all I can see it could just be rubber, no rims at all. Could be a lot of things. Probably won't be Shaft's Big Score but I've followed smaller hints into decent scores before. And hope to again.
That was a great find . Any other great goodies in that barn ? The red seats look great right where they are sitting !
Nice looking seats, perfect width for a '35-'36 truck, as I remember those '60s Bird seats were very comfortable.
thanks everyone, they seem to be the perfect width even the perfect height on the stock rails , i may have to modify the inner rail to clear my non-existent ****** tunnel. cant wait to polish up the stainless and touch up some of the red. the vinyl has that perfect used/aged look. ill keep ya posted!
yes nice seats! i like your steering wheel too is that going to be red to match? i just painted my 55 wheel white to match my seats.
Those look great! If he has more 60's Ford buckets I'm interested in getting a set. My falcon needs buckets, haha. Norton
They look very appropriate in that truck. It's funny how one thing like that can start to dictate the build though. I agree, now it needs some other bird parts, maybe even a cool lower valence incorporating Bird tail lights. . . .
