Hello all, I've been friends with a bunch of HAMB members for a long time now and now that I finally took the plunge into hot-rods again, it seemed time to become a member myself. A few months ago I bought an unrestored and almost all original 1963 Chevrolet Carryall from a friend and it's been my little project for a few months now. The truck is a solid survivor that hadn't run in over 22 years. I know the exact day and time it was parked because someone did a tune-up on it in 1987 and put the date and mileage in marker on the oil filter and air filter. It was driven 6 miles and parked! I transferred the ***le from what appears to the original owner. It seems that it was used as a delivery and work truck for a local family interior design firm. (as seen from the painted script on the doors) I spent about an hour on it and had it running....and I'll soon be cruising it around Austin and hopefully to the round-up next month. My plans are to drop it and someday modernize the drivetrain with all the amenities, but the body and patinaed paint complete with dents will remain. Let me know what you think. A
Hell yeah I'm gonna slam it! In fact.....I've already taken the liberty of accidentally applying my torch to the springs as a temporary measure of getting the damn front end to be a bit lower. That brings up a question.....why was the front end SO high up in the air on this truck? It was obviously tilted up towards the front. Did they put the same springs in the straight 6's as the V8's? (mine is the small 6) Thoughts? A
