I'll be using two(2) 500 CFM Edelbrock Carburetors on my 291 DeSoto Hemi, with a 6-71 blower. It will be running 20% underdriven, giving me 3lbs of boost @9.0:1 CR. They will be run progressive, with a choke on the primary carb. Any thoughts/suggestions on what jets/metering rod combinations to use...or where to look/ask? This will not be an all out race engine...strictly Street....
In the Edelbrock carb booklet, there is a formula which will give you a real good idea for your starting point relating to your jets and metering rods. This will only be a starting point, read your plugs after start up, etc.....
I'm tearing down a 291 right now and I'm looking for a blower manifold as well where did you get yours, all the ones I've found are for the high deck. I'm planning to build the engine almost exactly like yours any help you can give.
PLYMOUTHVIP - I bought a 6-71 Blower Manifold Top casting from Dyers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120374075019 Instead of welding it to an aluminum intake (non existant for a 291 DeSoto) I will bore the 4bl openings and drill the carburetor bolt patten into an aluminum plate, then weld the plate to the bottom of the manifold top casting...basiclly. They have another one on there now...
Is there any way you can drop teh compression a half point, maybe a whole point? If so, you can run say, 7lbs.... 7lbs of boost will rip your lips off. -Abone.
